any autoupdater that can allow auto updateportable apps?
I added several accounts to Pidgin and some extensions to Firefox 3 on my usb flash drive. I safely removed the drive and upon reinserting the drive the next day, I noticed that my accounts were not there and my extensions had vanished. What could be the cause of this? How could I repair this? My drive is formatted as FAT32 and I am able to save documents and other files. My programs, however, will not save their settings.

Hi all,
I've been working on a skin for the Mibbit IRC client, which can be embedded into webpages. Mibbit uses Javascript and AJAXy type things, which makes it very fast, and means you don't need to have Java/Flash, or a fullblown client. I think that this would be a good option for support, and from other discussion on this channel, I believe that John agrees.
Without further ado, here it is. Set up to go straight to irc.freenode.net, #portableapps, and set up with my skin.
Hi all, I have been playing around with trying to recreate the password logon feature that came with my flash drive (SanDisk cruzer, U3 software) where they have the usb drive partitioned. I have tried to use several programs to do this. One actuall killed my computer, gave me a unrecoverable “Unmountable Boot Volume” blue screen error when I tried to restart windows
I just wanted to know if anyone has had better luck with partitioning a usb drive under windows?
Hey John, Me and a friend was starting a website, I noticed you have drupal installed, We got started on drupal a few weeks ago, it's no painless but it's ok. I'm a bit curious how your setup is. What modules do you have installed? What is the best theme to modify as your own? And how do you manage your content, do you use templates?
Thanks.
My dad took away the computer I put all my development stuff on (and put it in his room...), so I won't be able to work on anything until he gives it back (or leaves to work at CVS on Thursdays }:)). Sorry...
BTW, does anyone know why my SMPlayer launcher doesn't work on Vista? (It works fine on XP...).
Just a quick update so everyone is in the loop. We have several updates waiting in the wings including OpenOffice.org in all languages (big thanks to Marko), WinMerge (courtesy of Ryan), CoolPlayer+ (NeoRame) as well as ClamWin, Notepad++ and VirtualDub (me). But these are on hold until tomorrow afternoon as I put the finishing touches on Firefox 3.0.
Hi. I have written a little AutoIT Script to have the program RemoveDrive eject the drive safely, after closing the portable apps menu. There is a screenshot here.
I hope someone else can also find it useful, so I uploaded the zip file to megaupload.com. Just unzip it to your PortableApps driectory. Download it here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=DT0UMMSB
Hello All,
Wondering if anyone was aware of a utility that allowed actual editing of the contents of a PDF file. I have already looked at PDFTK Builder and while a great app, it does not allow modification of text or graphics within the pdf file.
Suggestions appreciated!! Thanks!!
