Possible Forum Changes, Opinions Sought

Ok, it looks like Drupal 4.7 should be released soon. I've been waiting for it to do some of the changes to the site I'd been planning. I know we've discussed the whole threaded vs unthreaded thing in the forums. Unthreaded is more standard, and makes it easier to see what's new. Threaded makes it easy to see what's a reply to what. Both have advantages. Both have disadvantages. Some sites us unthreaded (most bulletin board and forum sites). Some use threaded (Slashdot and other slashcode-based sites, kuro5hin, etc).

I was actually thinking of splitting the difference... a la Digg... in terms of the way comments (aka responses to forum topics) are displayed. So, each of the top-level comments would be a reply to the original post... but each reply to those would just be an unthreaded list.

7-z portable?

Submitted by cch on April 26, 2006 - 12:32am

Well, I read many threads, but I didn't find anything with 7-z's portability.
Just want to know if it's portable, and where I can get a portable one if there is. Smile

By the way, can anyone tell me how to create a zip with 7-z?
The official site said it supports to pack a zip, but I still don't know how to do it after checking the whole program.

Bug in forums regarding AIM links.

Submitted by Bruce Pascoe on April 25, 2006 - 4:01am

@John T. Haller
I tried to use an AIM link in my signature, but the forums can't handle it. The following link:

<a href="/aim:goim?screenname=fatcerberus">

...ends up linking to https://portableapps.com/goim?screenname=fatcerberus instead of aim:goim?screenname=fatcerberus.

Can you fix this? I'd like to put a clickable IM link in my signature, but this bug prevents me from doing so.

Hello all... I'm back! Didja miss me? Wink

Sorry I've been away -- I (unexpectedly) had to leave for about a week... Long story.

Did I miss anything?

John-Would putting a search forums box/link right next to the main forum page, be helpfull?

Also maybe putting that link as a sticky on every individual forum topic?

It seems that people can't find the search box in the upper right corner of the site.

Maybe they think that is not for the forum section.

Seems like it needs to be more prominent for people.
