CamStudio 3.x Question

Submitted by SGB74 on April 5, 2026 - 12:46am

I see that CamStudio 3.X is listed under the section of apps that have either changed their license to commercial, time limited shareware or MS store exclusive and will not be updated. But when I visit their website it states the software is released under the GNU license. Their FAQs also state the application is free to use, no paywalls, or subscription fees. And lastly to acquire the app it states all you need to do is download the .exe and launch it.

Horrible Installer

Submitted by Occabot on February 17, 2026 - 8:06pm

Any way to automate the installation of selected programs? It is ridiculous that I have to sit at my computer and click hundreds of times. What is this, the 1990's? And if I try to use a macro to click on "Accept," some programs have other installation options, so this method will fail as well. Not very well thought out for apps that are supposed to be portable.

Why not one button at the beginning that allows for acceptance of all the apps terms?

Created a Brightness Control Program

Submitted by MOD-342 on February 17, 2026 - 4:27am

Hello everyone,I’m new here and I recently developed a simple portable tool called MOD Light ✨ to control desktop brightness and contrast for Windows users.

The program is lightweight, bilingual (Arabic/English), and includes features like:

Multiple modes (reading, media, gaming, night mode)

Auto start with Windows

Safe brightness limits to reduce eye strain

I would like your advice on the best ways to publish and distribute this tool so it can reach more users. Any guidance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

App installer not working on my device

I use a Dell Inspiron 11-3168 Signature Edition from 2017. It has 2gbs of RAM and a 32GB Sandisk EMMc Storage Chip and runs Windows 10 version 1703, build 15063.994, with an additional 32GB Sandisk Micro SD card. Some app installers don't work and gives errors, it varies between apps. But I most commonly found it to do with a .dll file. One of the examples of apps that don't work I can think of OpenOffice and LibreOffice. I know OpenOffice works on my device because I used the normal installer.
