TimeTracker Portable Pre-Release 6

Kevin Porter's picture
Submitted by Kevin Porter on October 26, 2007 - 4:48pm

Okay, for my first app, I chose an easy one. TimeTracker is an application usage and uptime tracking app. The only settings that it has is an .ini, so this is just basically PAFed so that the .ini is in the \Data directory. The launcher is based off of John's PNotes launcher. Anyway, if you need a more detailed explanation, see the official site:

Updated for beta 3.

It can be found in the same place.
http://www.sourceforge.net/projects/upxau
https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=208704
I apologize in advance if packages are missing; everything will be there when I announce beta 3.

I've done some more rearranging and there will be two packages:
upxau_script-1.0xn - This contains only the script itself, the license, and the changelog. Anyone updating should download this

suggestion about posting links for betas

This is just my preference, but can we post a link to the original program that is being portablized? Sometimes the brief description folks give doesn't seem to be descriptive enough, and a link to the original website development can help me decide if it is _really_really_ worth it, or just good enough. Task Coach Portable 0.65.3 Pre-Release 1 (Testers Needed)

Submitted by Patrick Patience on October 22, 2007 - 9:44pm

Task Coach is an absolutely fantastic to-do manager that's very easy to use, but has plenty of wonderful features. The program is released under the GPL, read more about it from the Official Site.

I highly suggest you try this out as it's a wonderful program that's beneficial to many an goes great alongside PNotes (Portable). If you do download it, please do me the favor of reporting feedback on any problems you have, or even typos.

PortableApps Beta 4 (3 specific questions)

Submitted by joesmith07 on October 22, 2007 - 6:03pm

I am currently using PortableApps.com Platform 1.1 Beta 4 and it is working great! I love the desktop swapper and other new features (personal picture, drag-able file menu, etc.)

I am aware that this is a beta version & can have some negative effects on my Portable Apps and documents. I was wondering:

1) With the new interface, are the apps still truly portable and secure? For example, does Firefox still leave no traces on host PC?

UPX and autoupdate batch files

Bahamut's picture
Submitted by Bahamut on October 22, 2007 - 3:10pm

This is a verbatim of the post I made in the original in the FxP forum. I need people to test the batch files and give feedback. Ways to make it better (how to implement certain features, not just suggestions) would also be greatly appreciated.

After much trial, error, and frustration, I finally got it to work.
Anyway, the batch files can be found here:
http://www.digital-signal.net/bahamut/batch/UPXAU/testing

Instructions:

  • Usage: [batch file] [file to prepare]
  • I will add echo messages in a later release.

Updated so John doesn't have to. Smile

PNotes is a sticky note utility that allows you to post sticky notes on your screen. It has multiple display options as well as a handy feature to schedule notes to pop up. It's small (under 1MB) and works well on Windows 2000 and up.

Now has a much better icon than the previous one.

Scribus Portable is the popular Scribus desktop publishing application in PortableApps.com format. Scribus is an open-source program that brings professional page layout to Linux/Unix, MacOS X, OS/2 and Windows desktops with a combination of "press-ready" output and new approaches to page layout. Plus, it leaves no personal information behind on the machine you run it on, so you can publish files wherever you go.
