%path% not working right

I can't seem to set %path% beyond the current cmd session anymore. I can use set to set %path%, but it doesn't stay. Changes made via System Properties -> Advanced -> Environment Variables seem to have no effect. I have a bunch of directories in there I set before via System Properties, but now I can't get rid of them or add new ones.

Question About the Front Page News/Feed

Submitted by Patrick Patience on September 19, 2007 - 12:02am

On the front page, where we see all the news headlines about recent releases and updated releases, I see if you have publishing permissions, you can post a news headline there. I also noticed the news is also added a an RSS Feed (the main one for PortableApps.com). Is this all with drupal? I wanted to set a feed up on my site where anyone with a login can publish content, and then it will automatically be added to the feed. Can I do this all with the "View" module? I also noticed the news is dated, how does that work?

Is there any website where I can watch Godzilla movies for free?!?

Yeah, I am very bored, and I love Godzilla movies, I am looking for a website where I can watch Godzilla for free, and Google has not been my friend. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I saw one movie from Lycos cinema. I would just rent the ones I want but my video store does not have that many Godzilla movies (especially the ones I wanna see).

Trying out some C++

Is anybody familiar enough with C++ to tell me how to add a button to the title bar of a window (next to the Minimize button)? I have an idea for an app.

Adding buttons to the title bar of a window to:

Roll the window up to it's title bar
Adjust position of the window to any of the 4 corners, top-center, bottom-center or centered on the screen
Minimize the window to the system tray.

There's an app out there that does this, plus more already, but it costs $$ and I wanted to make mine open-source and free.

SanDisk Extreme USB Flash Drive Ducati Edition

I was just surfin' around the internets when I heard that SanDisk had partnered with Ducati, to launch a new line of High-Performance flash products.

I was most excited to see their new flash drive, which, according to SanDisk comes in a 4GB size, with read/write speeds of 20 MB/second. It retails for $124 (US)

Plus, it looks like a friggin' Motorcycle, which just makes it that much more awesome.

Forum Bug Found on Preformated tag (sorry, apparently not a bug)

Submitted by José Pedro Arvela on September 13, 2007 - 6:50am

I'm not sure if this is the right section to post this (maybe general discussion), but long text inside the <pre> tags doesn't make the text follow to the next line when it comes to the end of the page, stretching the page, giving it a ugly style, and messing up the easy reading.

For understanding it better see this thread where the <pre> tags were aplied.

Until this is described as a real bug and fixed, I advice people to use the <pre> tags carefully.

Portable Linux

Submitted by StephenQ on September 13, 2007 - 4:53am

Yes i know theres heaps of threads about portable Linux requesting it etc, but this isn't about that.
I'm wondering how many people have a portable linux distro on their flash drive, if so:

What distro is it?
Why did you choose it?
What do you use it for?

I recently discovered Nimblex which is a neat little distro based on slackware.
