I often used to forget my USB drive in public computers or at least worry that I would. It was also slightly inconvenient to have to plug my USB drive in after the ring on it broke and I could thus no longer store it on my keychain. I decided that I'd just download my USB drive instead.
Hi, I had a portable app on my usb awhile ago, and now its gone. It was a program where it scans and tells me what hardware is only computer, as well as software. Now its gone from my usb and its not online anymore. Does anyone know the name of that program? Why isnt it for download anymore? Thanks
I wanted to give a shout out to the developers and volunteers who help run this site and provide the awesome applications. I am nuts about portable software, and if they're free, so much the better!
I use the apps on here so much, and am going to make a donation to help support this site as well!
I do have a question though, in my quest for portable apps, I came across portablefreeware.com. What are the main difference betweens portablefreeware and portableapps?
I just got a SanDisk 16GB Contour. It has U3 on it, but i do not like U3 is there any way to replace U3 with Portable Apps, So that upon insertion instead of U3 popping up it is PortableApps
Hi,
I'm new to these portable applications. Just like to find out something..
Other then those applications shown on this site, can i install other apps of my own choice?
For example Microsoft Office 2007, Dreamweaver or Adobe Photoshop?
Why are all apps not made portable? In the sense that they save all of the files are made in their own directory and compacted to the smallest possible size.

I know that there is encription software for preventing unwanted access to files on a flash drive or PHDD. I want to know How to prevent a flash drive from being infected with malware and viuruses. If useing a flash drive on a compermised system say a Liburary sys, School sys etc. Some systems may not have adiquite virus protection.
Does anyone know of a way to do this as it would be good to know.
I had ceedo on my stick with Copernic desktop search installed. My stick broke and I lost Ceedo. So I installed Portable Apps on a new USB stick and downloaded Copernic Desktop search home. However, the latter refuses to install but to the local dir (i.e. C-dir); it doesn't accept the drive letter my USB stick is mounted on.
Just a note informing the community that WikiHow.com, the how-to Wiki, has an article on PortableApps.com, in case anyone from here wants to represent the site.
