I found this tutorial while searching for portable apps. i have read it and it may be usefull to someone. i am currently using so i may be able to make portable apps in the near future. here is the link (Link Removed due to certain issues) once this gets sorted out, ill put it back up.

thanks to PortableApps.com, in the last year I've moved my digital life from a couple of computers to a single pen drive.

Unfortunately, I'm still struggling to find a good portable solution for my contacts.

I've been using Outlook for many years and in the last months I've moved ToDo(s) and Calendars to a portable application.

But I cannot find an application that can import my contacts.

i hav been using internet explorer in school to get to this site, and ever since the upgrade of this site, i have not been able to see the smileys in ie...
for instance these wont pop up

Hi,

Whenever there's a new portable release of an application it is announced.
In the announcement there's a section called "New In This Release" that lists the changes from last release. Problem is it refers only to the "portability layer" of the app, not to the original app. Regarding the original app it only states "Updated to the latest version of..." or "Updated to version x.x.x of y".

I suggest to add a link to the "what's new" or "change log" of the original app.

Hello, im having problems with a nsis script im compiling. IM Having trouble with the "VIProductVersion", it always says "Error: invalid VIProductVersion format, should be X.X.X.X
Error - aborting creation process" and i have tried to figure out what is wrong but cant. What do u put in VIProductVersion part, i looked at another NSIS script and it had this in its place VIProductVersion "${Ver}" i put that in and i still get the same error message, also i put in my products version, which is "4.13.5" and i still get the same error message. Any help will be appreciated.

I just wanted to get a little bit of clarification on this before I went ahead and did this.

Since I've made the plunge to Vista, I've been going back and testing some of the older apps I've liked (TunnelVision Portable and WinBoard Portable to name a few).

I would like to add the results of the tests to the original post but at the same time I don't want to start bumping older topics either.

i found a process viewer that will let you quit processes, i am now looking for an open source version. I hav spent about two days on sourceforge searching and could not find anything.
so if someone could help me out that would be great.
