As a few people have mentioned, McAfee and AVG are currently throwing false positives on several of the portable launchers. I'd like to address a few questions:
What is registry.dll?
I would like to change path for Music, Movies and Pictures buttons in PA menu since I don't want those directories to be in root menu. I usually keep them in Download directory in which I store all that I carry arround.
Is there a way to change paths for those buttons so they point to /download/music for example?
Thank you.
Today, McAfee VirusScan reported virus alert at the portable apps (including ThunderbirdPortable and FirefoxPortable). I download one new package from
http://portableapps.com and http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/. The package
from mozilla works fine. But VirusScan reports virus in the one from portableapps.
Please double check the portableapps application. Thanks.
The following are the virus information:

Hey guys, really love all this, but is there a way to set a global proxy profile (or just global networking profiles in general)? i really dont like having to change these for every single application.
i have seen some suggest running a local proxy that then reroutes, but that seems a bit overdone...
I think that the PortableApps menu should have some sort of icon or toolbar that automatically pops up whenever you insert the flash drive in.

Just ran across these today. They were linked from digg.com and slashdot.org.
Looks like these packaged apps let you run the typically web-based app locally and use data from the web or run completely off-line.
What does everyone think about the usefulness of running web-based apps this way? And will there be a need to make them portable on a USB drive?
