Ran ClamAV today and got a rude surprise. Dozens of infections!
Most of the flagged files are in the PortableApps packages I installed. Dozens of them.
Also found one in Google's own Photo Backup/Update service.
ClamAV (PortableApps version) quarantined the files so I'm going to uninstall the infected ones, hopefully they will stay gone.
Two most common viruses/trojans/etc. found are GrafTor (Malware) and FauxPythonCover.
Was just fiddling with this problem of never being able to receive emails from PortableApps sent to my Hotmail and/or Yahoo email accounts; my understanding is that they get blocked at the email server level. So I changed my email registered with PortableApps over from Hotmail.com to Yahoo.com two days ago and, yahoo!. I am now receiving email updates from PortableApps for threads that I am subscribed to. Amazing, problem seems solved, but thought that John, and others, might be glad of the information, so post here to let folks know of the new development.

How can i run a portable application that specifies that Flash must be installed on the system. Is there a way this can be achieved with chrome browser phasing flash out?
I am currently assembling a course for professionals in Emergency Management to show them the beauty of having Portable Apps as a part of their tool kit. Before I go into actually teaching them how to use different functions, would it be possible for me to provide the attendees a flash drive already pre-loaded with several Portable Apps that I find useful in my job?
What would you recommend as the best way to build out 200-500 USB drives pre-loaded with Portable Apps and a few basic useful apps?
Hello,
I am creating emergency boot USB devices, with memory and HD.
Those devices have an emergency boot created by Macrium Reflect backup software.
Reflect uses the Windows PE 10 WADK to create the emergency boot, and it boots fine.
I have downloaded the portable apps platform into my Windows 10 Pro laptop and then copied all the associated files to the memories.
On the USB memory stick I have two partitions, and all the portable applications are there.
Assume an users pins a shortcut to e.g. Firefox Portable to (Win7) TaskBar.
After clicking on it FirefoxPortable.exe setup environment and starts in turn the underlying core Firefox.exe
Since PortableFirefox.exe and Firefox.exe are strictly speaking two different programs another icon thunbnail appear in Taskbar.
So one PortableApp launch causes a second, different entry in TaskBar altough both belong somehow together.
Is there a way to group these two icons/thumbnails together just as if I would have started 2 instances of Firefox.exe?
Inkscape recently got updated to 1.0 and the PortableApp Inkscape also got updated to the same version.
But I am not able to find out if the PortableApps Inksape version is 64bit or 32bit - it doesn't show up when I open Help>About Inkscape.
So, could anyone from PortableApps please tell?
I noticed that you get very weird links on the latest apps and news site when you are not logged in with your user on portableapps.com
When you are logged in, everthing looks fine.
