How OFTEN to update WHAT?

Submitted by BeaBonobo on March 12, 2024 - 7:25am

It is brilliant that the PA PLATFORM updates-as-soon-as needed.

Recently that has been "very frequent" ( = more than once in a month).

BUT should we also, at the same time, have to update PA apps that work perfectly well already?

WHAT am I suggesting? ... That the APPS menu is like this ...

* Check for Platform Updates
* Check for App Updates

You see the point?

Very best wishes

WHOA, brilliant PLATFORM notes ...

Submitted by BeaBonobo on March 12, 2024 - 7:11am

I have used PortableApps for years already.

Recent updates to the PLATFORM have done ONE great thing: IMPROVE LOAD PERFORMANCE.

My PA has hundreds of PAs and wanted apps (WAs).
Over years it got SLOW LOADING (up to 135 seconds) of 134 app links..

Recent PLATFORM UPDATES gives me LOAD of 15 seconds.
THAT is astonishing.

Thank YOU!

ThunderbirdPortable_115.8.1_English - Extract: error writing to file xul.dll

Submitted by gbrao on March 8, 2024 - 5:02am

I am trying to update Thunderbird from a older version with ThunderbirdPortable_115.8.1_English.paf.exe (SHA1=DFA2C0D0E551B5938FF9C252BD246E6071FEA586), I keep geting a popup "Extract: error writing to file xul.dll".

Something wrong with the installer or with something at my end?

Downloaded it twice.
Tried to install more than once, even a fresh install. Same error.

Portable Python

Submitted by mbreese on March 7, 2024 - 1:24pm

I am looking for a portable python app. it is not listed in the available apps in my portableapp setup, but a search shows there was one. The last post in the forum for it was a few years ago. Is it still available?

Missing texts on the cookie buttons

Submitted by Barrby on February 16, 2024 - 3:35am

Going to portableapps.com site I see the "standard" cookie confirmation request. If I choose Manage options, I can "somehow" (one or two checkboxes per option without explanation) edit my choices and I should confirm it somehow. But there are three ovals (micro-buttons) without any text only! White one, black and green. How the user should to know (without studying HTML source), what to choose?

BTW, I didn't find any contact / FAQ / forum ... about the portableapps.com site... Sad

[Closed] Clear history when LIbrewolf closes re-enabled

Submitted by nolanoro on February 14, 2024 - 1:16pm

When an update is performed, will portableapps re-enable "Clear History"? I just opened Librewolf to a blank session.

I read the disclaimer in the settings. I've been keenly aware that I must be sure to disable "Clear History" to maintain my session and history. We can see that I have "Remember Browsing and Download History" enabled. But now, 'Clear History when Librewolf closes" is selected. Why would I have both selected?

Not sure, but I also "believe" that I created the related about:config commands. If I did, they are no longer in effect.
