better instructions by including examples in them

I find some instructions on how to use some applications quite complicated, and think that adding explicit detailed hypothetical examples to such instructions would be helpful. I see that this suggestion has been posted by other members, of course using different words. Never the less, I find it a good idea to submit the suggestion again.

How to troubleshoot problems with portable launcher?

Submitted by Peter8087 on April 3, 2014 - 9:08am

I have some programs and games that when i start them from the portable launcher it gives me errors. And the problem for this is in the portable launcher because otherwise these programs and games work fine.

How can i troubleshoot problems with the launcher? Do i have to look at the launcher.ini or appinfo.ini or i have to edit the NSIS script, which will be hard for me since i am not a coder? When there is a problem with the launcher what usually is the source of the problem?

How the portable launcher loads the executable files?

Submitted by Peter8087 on March 31, 2014 - 7:25am

How the process of loading the .exe files from PAL launcher differ from the way how windows is loading the .exe files? I am trying to convert some games in portable format but every time i try to use NoCD patch for a game it always gives some error. And if i use the NoCD patch on the installed game it starts the game without problem. Why this is happening?

Hey guys! I was doing some software browsing when I started wondering, "Is there a way to make an alternative desktop that is associated with the PA.com Menu?" In other words, have a desktop that you can make shortcuts from your flash drive to or something like that. Is this possible/ has someone already done this? Thanks!

I am collected (from locale files and website) all the Platform translators since version 1.5 and newer in different language sections: http://pastebin.com/9nQdm0R3. Maybe useful for "Our Team" page?

Update. Would be better if in "Our Team" page use the alphabetically list with a link to languages view.

For some translators are not the forum profile links, impossible to find.
Dont know about Greek translators Yannis Papatzikos, Nik A and Portuguese translator Ricardo Moreira.

How to advise PortableApps.com staff of new versions of software that are out?

PortableApps does a good job with updating their portable versions to the latest available but sometimes things fall through the cracks.

For example, when I run CintaNotes, FileZilla, and FreeFileSync, they are all telling me that there are new versions available currently and that I should download these.

I was wondering if there was an effective and polite way to let the people at PortableApps.com know that there is a new version of a software available as I am sure it's difficult for them to keep an eye out for all updates available to dozens of individual programs.

Chromebooks

Do Portable Apps work on Chromebooks? I know that the following work on Chromebooks: mice, keyboards and USB drives work on Chromebooks. But I was really excited when I found Portable Apps, because, I wanted to move away from the Microsoft PC and associated software constraints imposed by MS. I don't want to spend $200-$300 or more on a Chromebook only to find out that PortableApps won't work. I am ready to cut the cord with Microsoft and PC hardware.
