Process Monitor - filtering log

Submitted by ImStillA - Beginner on June 6, 2011 - 2:02pm

Hello!

I monitored a program using Process Monitor, but today I found a problem while filtering.

I wanted to see what files were created during the installation, so I set up a filter to show only
"Disposition: Create".

Now I tried to look in that log for a file I certainly know was created during the installation. I copied its name and put it in the search function - nothing found.
it searched through the whole updated log with "Disposition: Create" filter but did not find the name of the file.

Errors following hibernation

Submitted by timtranslates on June 5, 2011 - 5:48pm

I've found several comments about this, but I've not found a solution. I'm currently trying to recover my ThunderBird Inbox following an error resulting from hibernation while using ThunderBirdPortable. Does anyone know a solution? For some reason I can't change the setting for what I want my computer to do when I close the lid. The option is greyed out (I'm using Windows 7 Starter).

I'm thinking of going back to XP, because otherwise I don't know how I can carry on with my current system of running PortableApps from my external hard drive.

Change temp. dir. while installation?

Submitted by DevOwner0 on June 2, 2011 - 9:33am

Hi everybody,

is there any way for changing the directory, which is used while an app installation?
Normaly, in my case, this is drive C, where Windows is installed on. Bur my problem now is, there isnt any other space left, only windows fits in the partition size and some lowsize tempfiles, thats all.
But now, i cant install anything new. Because most of these portable apps are using the common temp directory for unpacking.

any ideas?
working with "Set temp= D:\" or similar doesnt work.

Apps in Non-Standard Directories

Submitted by puppysnuff on June 1, 2011 - 10:33pm

Is there a way to run an app that is not in a standard directory?

For example, I run a bootCD image off of my thumb drive as well as PortableApps. There are a few tools in the bootCD directory I would like to add to my PortableApps menu, but want to keep in their folder off the root directory for the USB drive.

Any Ideas?

Grouping apps

Submitted by allesok on June 1, 2011 - 4:45pm

I am switching to Portable Apps from [illegal software].
The latter, however, has an advantageous feature of grouping the apps under headings like Audio, File Management, Graphics etc.
How can I do that in Portable Apps?

HELP!!! With deleting a portable app

Submitted by fowlstar on May 30, 2011 - 6:46pm

I was manually deleting the files of Warzone 2100 because it was having some malfuntioning problems, and when I was deleting the "Data" file it said that there were system files within it and that it might make a program not work. I still continued to delete the files when it said that there was an error and it wouldn't delete the files.
PLEASE RESPOND AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!
Thank you very much!
