Which Hardware encrypted USB

Submitted by Britman on January 22, 2009 - 7:56pm

Hey guys,
My first post Smile

Sorry I know this has been discussed endlessly and it's clear that a hardware based USB stick is the way to go if you want secure, encrypted portable app mobility.

But my question is 'Which to go for'?
As I'm likely to be spending good money of one I need to make sure it's the right one.
At present I've got 2 listed:
Kingston Datatraveler Secure
Ironkey (not happy with the built in Firefox)

Thumb drive security

Submitted by Carlos5 on January 22, 2009 - 3:41pm

Hello,

How can I have my thumb drive require a password before allowing access? (I used to use a u3 thumb drive and it was set up that way.)

Basically I am looking to make my entire drive un-accessable without a password.

Ideally I would like to make just portions of it protected but that might be more difficult?

Thanks for your help.

Create folders in Launcher

Submitted by athowell on January 21, 2009 - 10:39am

Hey folks.

I find the Portable Apps very handy and convenient, thank you. However, I have a list of about 15 apps that scroll in the launcher list. Is there a method for me to create a folder called "utilities" and put certain apps in there and the same for "office" and "etc".

Please if anyone knows a way to create folders to better organize my portable apps I'd be very much appericative.

Thanks,
Avery

Firefox extension settings to use relative paths

Submitted by chrizio on January 17, 2009 - 5:00am

Some extensions of my Firefox Portable generate on itself some output or store files on disc, i.e.: InfoListener, Scrapbook.
They have appropriate configuration settings in order to determine where the files are to be stored.
These settings should work on each host PC.
While editing the setting with about:config one can enter absolute path.
How the relative path should look ?

Portable WebcamMax4.2.5.0

Submitted by alden_mirasol3000 on January 15, 2009 - 8:38pm

I tried to make WebcamMax portable by extracting the .exe with the UnivExtractor but when I run the program, it returns an error: "Unable to locate component" - "This application has failed to start because sqlite3.dll was not found. Re-instaling the application may fix this problem". Can anybody help me make this application portable so I can use it at work? The application can be found here: http://files.filefront.com/WebcamMax4250+MLexe/;12987241;/fileinfo.html

Thank you.
