RockBox Installer

Submitted by superslacker87 on June 7, 2010 - 8:37am

This would be a great addition to those who use PortableApps on their iPods or other similar device and also use the RockBox firmware. It's a zipped download and runs on the system. It doesn't install anything, but does require admin access in order to modify the firmware of the music device (at least it does on my system). The installer is needed to install the initial firmware replacement as well as periodic upgrades to the RockBox software, so having it on the player in which it is used would be a good idea.

Progress Quest

Submitted by superslacker87 on June 7, 2010 - 8:29am

I'd like to suggest that Progress Quest be added to the game section of the site. There is absolutely no install at all. Download a zip file, extract the folder, run the program. The save file gets saved in the folder as well, so it can be taken anywhere and run anywhere with no admin rights necessary. When it's deleted, it's gone forever. The site is here: Progress Quest

swi-prolog portable version for windows

Submitted by tsubaka.pi on June 3, 2010 - 6:13pm

Hello portable-apps community. I've searched these forums and found 1 request: that one didn't follow the 'un-official' request guideline. So I'll give it my own try and request it with the following info:

Program: SWI-Prolog

License: Kernel licensed under the LGPL & Prolog libraries are distributed under the GPL with an additional statement that allows for use in proprietary applications.

Tag Scanner

Program: TagScanner
License: Freeware
Website: http://www.xdlab.ru/en/index.htm

Description: So here is the program, Tag Scanner. I've seen that others have been here, but just a brief glance, it is still being worked on with little tweaks, so it seems to be in active maintanence.

It's listed itself as freeware. I don't know off-hand how easy it is to portablize it, though it lists one on their download page.

Of course, I do see how Songbird has a tagger add-ons, has anyone used it for that? Any good?

X-Setup

Submitted by ElSid on June 2, 2010 - 2:06pm

Not Freeware or Open Source ... technically. However, X-Setup is going defunct
"Dear Customers,

Because of the insolvency of WUG all operations regarding X-Setup Pro have been shut down.

We thank all customers, partner and friends for their support during this time. We hope you had as much fun using X-Setup Pro as we had making it.

We wish you all the best,

TeX and Eric

P.S.:

You can still download the last version from ..."

Frinika

Submitted by fcoulter on June 1, 2010 - 2:21pm

I have not worked with this program, but it appears to be a midi sequencer which supports notation and audio. (Of course, if there are any other midi sequencers which support notation [priority 1] and audio [priority 2], I'd love to hear about them. Especially if they're here at PortableApps.)

Program: Frinika

License: GNU GPL

Description: Audio workstation

Website: http://frinika.appspot.com/

Other: No clue - I have not (yet) worked with this program

RBTray - minimize any window to the system tray

Submitted by dmg on May 29, 2010 - 7:24pm

RBTray runs in the background and allows the user to minimize most windows to the system tray by right clicking the window's minimize button. It is tiny and self contained. It supports XP, Vista and Win7. Both 32 and 64 bit versions are available.

License - GNU GPL

Site - http://sourceforge.net/projects/rbtray/

RBTray is mentioned in one other post on this forum but very little information is provided, so I believe it is permissible for me to post this.
