Wake on Lan

Submitted by abnormal on January 31, 2008 - 5:54pm

It would be nice to have a program so that when I am using a computer at work/school and need something stored my computer at home which is off to save money/environment, I could wake it using a portable app. I've found some that are not portable, does anyone know of an open source version that could possibly get modified for portableapps.com?

Portables ON portables specifically Clamwin

Submitted by Lahru on January 31, 2008 - 12:13pm

I've not tried using it yet, but I would like to see a port of Clamwin or another AV (freeware or Opensource) able to be used on the Windows Mobile platforms. Its nice to have the software as it stands, but I think that any of the current portable apps would get a broader user base were that possible.

(I'm no developer or I might try this myself.) =\

Hi, yesterday I released PeaZip Portable 1.11 http://peazip.sourceforge.net/
It is a natively portable compression utility supporting many archive formats like ZIP, TAR, 7Z, PAQ... extracts also ISO, RAR, ACE and many more.
It's available either for 32 and 64 bit Windows and Linux systems.
PeaZip provides also an handy set of tools like: split/join files, wipe files (secure deletion), byte to byte compare files, checksum/hash files with multiple algorithms (CRCs, MD5, SHA family, EDonkey etc), system benchmark, generate random passwords/keyfiles.

Portable Oracle XE

Hi.

I'm a software developer that uses an Oracle database (10gXE) and have a set of tools that i run to convert data from on ver. of our software to the next. I often have to do the conversion at places with very restricted network access and very limited computer access and rights. Often I'm not permitted to use my own pc at these places but can run programs as notepad++, sqldeveloper from an USB-stick. They work fine.

Manage / remove Appl on launch pad

Submitted by amagrace on January 28, 2008 - 11:32am

PortableApps offers a nice way to add new software, by simply adding the software folder. However, it happens for a few software packages I added the software contains some utilities executables which I believe the main module will call to. However, either I will never run them directly or they must be launched from the main module, it makes no sense to have them appear on launch pad. It only confuses visually.

I'd like to see PortableApps LaunchPad offer a way to selectively remove some icons from the menu (not removing the application folder completely).
