maybe something changed? should i set the path where to search for the apps? new updater doesn't find updates for any app

Just wondering, is there a good reason the updater can't/doesn't work like Ninite? A lot of geeks know about Ninite now, and I think it's reasonable to expect that level of performance from a batch installer, so when the individual installers come up, one at a time... I mean, especially with big stuff like LibreOffice, you really should be able to set it, forget it, and come back to it being done.

I have two installations - I think one is version 2 and the other version 3.

I use a common Sandisk thumbdrive. How many insertions do these things last? Is there a preferred thumbdrive make and model? Is Iron Key a good choice with respect to longevity?

I am wondering how can I keep my settings for my platform? Every time I turn on my computer and open up my portable apps platform I have to reset my settings the way I want it.

I really love PortableApps, but one thing has always bothered me. On the PortableApps Menu there are a lot of clever names and icons for all the wonderful apps, but who can remember what they all are? Does everyone remember what Juice is? How about Toucan? It would great if a short description would pop up when I hover the mouse over the shortcut. Right now, the folder location pops up, but that is not very useful. Thanks.

I know you can't please everyone, but I am amongst those that really liked the windows-alt-space shortcut that existed in PR-5 (?). Ctl-alt-space really interferes with the french hard space which is found at altgr-space on my keyboard (French-canadian ISO).

Is it possible to either:
– make sure that it's truly only ctl-alt-space (i.e. the left keys only) serve for the shortcut...
– have a customizable shortcut...
– or more simply an option to remove the shortcut through a switch in the ini file ?

Is it possible to have programs start when the portable apps platform menu starts?

Currently i use pstart and it auto runs a few programs on start up i would like to be able to do the same

First, thanks to you all who made portableapps.com such a wonderful piece of software!

I've been eagerly waiting for the 2.x platform in order to keep my apps up2date automatically. However things don't work as expected in my environment:

We've got a rather stringent policy in place that restrict .exe-files of being executed only from certain locations. Googling my way around I found that the auto-updater ("check for updates") in the portableapps suite seems to download the updates so some subdir of %TEMP% then trying to install it from there.
