PortableApps.com Platform

Just downloaded the latest versions of thunderbird, firefox,
clamwin and vlc from portableapps. As soon as I doubleclick
one of these exe-files my firewall tells me, that explorer.exe wants an outgoing connection with remoteaddress: s9.addthis.com. And then the window to install the application opens.

So far, I never got this message about a connection to s9.addthis.com - also checked it again with an older version of the same programs. Just with the new ones it happens...

Is it possible to remove the Music and Video folders from the main PortableApps menu? Unlike the app shortcuts, they don't disappear when you refresh icons after deleting the actual folders from the drive.

On the menu, if you have many applications, an up and down arrow appears.

Is there any reason this cannot do the same thing as the page buttons do, instead of the up and down arrow keys?

It'd be better so that when you pressed the up/down arrow, it moved up/down a page, rather than 1 item.

Is there any reason why this could/should not be done?

I'd really like to see this.

I think applied the old Winxp patch.
Only started with the menu, then insatlled apps.
It works on WINXP Home.
But the menu does not start and will not manually start
on Win98Se, but I can start 7zip portable manually.
any fix for this ?.

I got Portable Apps 1.1 installed on a 4GB USB key with lots of data. I make a weekly backup of the whole key.
Since my last backup, I cannot more open/use any programm on the key!
Ichecked the backup. There also the programs are lost.

In the backup as well as on the key, the folder ..\ThunderbirdPortable\..\profile\Mail\mail.eco-rah.be is still there but the files are empty. Also the total amount of space used on my key is drastically reduced.
The other data folder are well backuped and usable.

I didn't see any posts concerning this, so if I missed it, my apologies. As far as the PA Menu, would it be possible to get a scroll bar to quickly scroll through your list of programs? I'm not a programmer, so I don't know how difficult that would be, but it would help a lot when you have many portable apps. Thanks you...

I am wondering, is there a way to create folders in the portable apps menu, to group apps together? I have some apps I would like to group, to clear up some space on the menu, like a mozilla folder, and other things. Is this possible?

I had another portable program that I wanted to add to the menu, so i copied its folder into "PortableApps", and started StartPortableApps.exe - and the new program shows up in the menu - but with a bad name, i tried changing the name of the exe file, but the menu keeps using the same name - is there some way to rename what name gets shown in the menu?

I have portableapps version 1.1 loaded on a USB Key Drive

It works fine on 3 PCs (2 using XP Pro SP3 and one using Vista Business)

But it crashes on another PC also running XP Pro SP3

I chatted to some very helpful guys on the live chat and they suggested I post here.

They also asked me to do a new download and install which I tried, and also asked me to run some apps without using the menu system, I tried Firefox Portable and Open Office Write and they both worked fine.

All other software on the PC works fine
