Package manager?

Submitted by tommaso on May 15, 2011 - 9:50am

Hello, I'm new in your community. My question is not a very request, but a suggest: cool download managers (such as winwget, wxdownload fast, free download manager) exist yet, and an updater too (you are building one in the new platform 2.0, aren't?)... why don'use them to build your own portableapps.com "package manager" (just such as a linux distribution)?

Hello,

At work, I use SqlDbx personnal edition every Day to request my Oracle and SQL Server database.

I get it at www.sqldbx.com
On there website, I read this:

"SqlDbx is a standalone executable file, so no installation is necessary. Furthermore, SqlDbx does not install or modify anything on the user's computer."

"SqlDbx uses one Registry entry to store configuration. Registry key located in HKCU\Software\SqlDbx. Other then that SqlDbx does not modify anything else."

Name: Tux Football

Website: http://tuxfootball.sourceforge.net/

License: GPL

Description: Tux Football is a great 2D soccer (sometimes called football) game for Windows and Linux. It's bringing old style gameplay from DOS times back to the desktop with up to date graphics! It's gameplay is similar to old classics such as Amco's Kick Off and Sensible Software's Sensible Soccer.

So, I know its not that important, and I'd understand if no one wanted to waste their time with it, but I'd love it if I could have a SecondLife viewer as a portable app. You see, I use portable apps here at school. What I normally do to make an app is just take the app and its components, put it in a folder, put that folder in the portable apps folder, then reboot portable apps, and it puts it in that format for some reason.
