Log This is a freeware app to protect you from keyloggers. Not sure if it's Open Source but if it can be made portable then it would be useful to people who use FFP and other such apps. I am unable to copy the link due to the lack of the copy function on my iPod Touch that I'm posting this with. Go to http://www.bestfreewaredownloads.com and search for Log This! to get more info and a download link.

TrueCrypt 5.1

What about file - and system security in a world of spys, intruders and in the inevitable case of the total loss of the very important USB gizmo?

I think a portable version of Truecrypt makes the world and life in general a little bit safer! or Sure!

For sure!

I'm not sure if this is illegal or if it violates any laws or anything but I think you should make a version of the PA website that is optimized for viewing on a portable device, such as an iPod Touch. Also, develop versions of apps that can be installed onto an iPod Touch that is "jailbroke"

File Converter

It would be nice to have a portable file converter. I don't know how many times I've needed to convert a FLV to something else. Yes I know there are online sites that'll do it. But when you need it immediately and portably. Or if the file is over 100mb the site's won't even do it. It'd be nice to have a portable app to do this! THANKS!!!

Emulator that runs Linux

Submitted by SoLowRockerMan on March 20, 2008 - 12:16pm

Probably the coolest thing to do for a portable app is to make a portable emulator that would allow Linux to run in a window while Windows is open.

This would ensure that people using corporate or school PCs which may not be configured to boot from USB or CD/DVD drives would be able to run their favorite Linux (which for me is Ubuntu if that means anything) without messing with the BIOS settings on a computer which is not theirs.

I'm not sure if it's open source but I hear a lot about QEMU or something like that. I figure that could be a good place to start.

Jahshaka

Please excuse me if this has been answered before. Was anyone still working to try and portablize Jahshaka? From what I have read it looks like it is a good video editor and might make a good addition to the Portable Apps suite. If not, does anyone have any suggestions on another open-source alternative video editor?

Duplicate Text Finder

Submitted by AppUser69 on March 20, 2008 - 8:47am

I need a portable app that can locate and remove duplicate entries in a text file. I did a search but could only find apps to locate duplicate files, not duplicate entries in a text file. I wish it was a feature that Notepad++ could handle but it seems it does not. Any help would be appreciated!
