Google Drive is everywhere you are—on the web, in your home, at the office and on the go. So wherever you are, your stuff is just...there. Ready to go, ready to share. Get started with 5 GB free

it a new service of google, and it will be nice to see a sync google drive portable.

thanks,
tal.

Zotero Standalone

Submitted by lugusto on April 22, 2012 - 1:24pm

Firefox Portable + Zotero add-on works very fine but it would be a great adition to have Zotero Standalone as a portable application too, since

1) some public/corporate computers blocks firefox process;

2) the Standalone version offers the option to manage citations and library in a full window specific for it, without any browser screen things (at least for me this is a plus)

Geany 0.21

Current version here is 0.20. I would love to get the update to 0.21.
I saw on the list of upcoming releases that somebody will
build it on the weekend. Several weeks have passed since then...

Portable Apps that are already portable

Submitted by marcofk on April 17, 2012 - 5:12am

Hello all.

I realise that some of these topics have already been discussed, but I found that some of them date back to 2007, so I'll lump them all in one request.

There are some applications I use that are already portable in format, but not yet officially on the PortableApps platform. They are:

SMath (a free but currently close source MathCAD style application)
Portable Python (compiler, IDE and a number of useful libraries like SciPy for Python 2.7 - might be wrong about version number, but it's not Python 3)
FreeCAD (a free and open source 3D CAD software)

VSee Portable

Submitted by MzPort on April 14, 2012 - 10:15am

VSee is a free alternative to Skype et al.
It looks very promising and a lot less bloated than Skype.
I say "free alternative" because Skype doesn't have free group video conferencing which VSee offers. See vsee.com

It's already quite portable, doesn't really mess that much with registry, but I can't prevent it from throwing its stuff in the AppData folder as it doesn't respect it's own APPDATA environment variable.

If anyone knows how to make it portable or could add it as an app to portableapps, that would be nice.
