Ed2k Hash

Submitted by nightbeholder on August 27, 2009 - 12:01am

Name: Ed2k Hash

Website: http://ed2k-tools.sourceforge.net/ed2k_hash.shtml

Description: ed2k_hash is a little command line utility that takes an number of files and outputs their ed2k-links.

License: Open Source/GPL

Could anyone please make this portable so it could run like Unlocker Portable with it adding the hash menu to the shell when the program is started and removing it when the program is closed.

Portable Ubuntu Remix

Submitted by SoLowRockerMan on August 26, 2009 - 5:06pm

There is a great option for the Operating Systems section: Ubuntu Portable remix. It uses co-linux to run within Windows without need for QEMU or anything like it and if the website is to be believed it is completely portable. It is a little heavyweight of course but it is a great way to take Linux with you when you travel and the single-executable structure (plus a filesystem file) makes it easy to wrap with a NSIS launcher so that it will integrate with the menu.

FamiTracker

Submitted by arinlares on August 25, 2009 - 11:08pm

Program: FamiTracker

License: Open Source, GPL. Unsure of the version, as the site doesn't say.

Description: FamiTracker is a free windows tracker for producing music for the NES/Famicom-systems.

Website: http://famitracker.shoodot.net

Other: On the first run, FamiTracker sets up file association with the ftm file type, which is the project file type for FamiTracker. I haven't checked where these registry entries are, unfortunately, and can't check because I'm not at my own computer.

Portable Bittorrent Client

Submitted by rwttaber on August 25, 2009 - 6:29pm

I know this has been discussed before, but I still haven't seen a useful portable bittorrent client to download. I know that you can make μTorrent portable, but its not open source (at least I don't think it is), and I haven't had much luck with deluge and anyway the one on this site is outdated. I found two useful bittorrent clients that do look promising. They are both portable already but I would like to see some one compile them into PortableApps.com format.

The First is G3 Torrent, the problem with this one is that the project was abandoned.

LeoCAD - virtual brick building tool

Submitted by zkee on August 25, 2009 - 4:45am

Program: LeoCAD

License: GNU General Public License, according to http://www.winpenpack.com/main/download.php?view.93, but I could not find confirmation of this at the original author's website

Description: LeoCAD is a CAD program that uses bricks similar to those found in many toys (but they don't represent any particular brand). Currently it has a library of more than 1000 different pieces, and with the recent LDraw parts update (see http://www.philohome.com/leoupd/leoupd.htm) this number has risen well above that.

Extreme Tux Racer

Name: Extreme Tux Racer
Description: Extreme Tux Racer (ETRacer or ETR for short) is a downhill racing game featuring Tux, the Linux Penguin. It is a free, open source game.

It already runs off my flash drive fine in normal version, but I'm not sure if it leaves settings behind or not.
