I'm not sure how much demand there would be for a tool like this, but I found an open source driver backup utility called DriverBackup!

here's the discription from SourceForge:

Simple tool for backup hardware drivers' files. DriverBackup! preserves drivers of your hardware peripherals from injury of time, saving important files into a specified directory. So you can use these files to reinstall your perip. without CDs or Floppys.

FileExtractor or PhotoRec

I was wandering through portablefreeware.com, and I stumbled accross a couple of open source file recovery tools that look interesting.

One of them is the discription from the FileExtractor home page:

FileExtractor is a free (open source) tool for recovering files from a binary data source. Sources such as digital cameras, partitions, harddrives, memory sticks or floppy disks may be corrupted, deleted or formatted by mistake. Once the file system is destroyed you need a tool such as FileExtractor to recover your files.

Shortcuts Launcher

Submitted by cypro on August 9, 2007 - 2:15pm

Hello guys, this is my first time here. I'm using many of the portable apps and I found them very helpful, the reason I'm writing here is to present an application which I write in Visual Basic which it will make the use of portable apps more easy. Shortcuts Launcher is a small toolbar placed on the top of the screen with space for 10 shortcuts. What you have to do is to use "EDIT" button and add the applications which you want to start with a double click from this toolbar. The application is BETA, that means that it maybe contains errors/bugs and I'm also open for any suggestions.

portable search

Submitted by Draugen on August 9, 2007 - 7:33am

Anybody who know about any portable application that can search through my hard drive? On one computer I use ( not my own computer) i cant use the basic "search" thing because the administrator on the computer have made it so that no one without admin account type cant use the "search" option in win xp Sad So if anybody have some suggestion to what kind of software I could use, would be fine. I want to have a stand alone program that can do that.
