Portable App Development

I just saw the posting for Mercurial Portable dev test, and something occurred to me.

First, I have no idea about internals of the SDK.
Second, my questions might have been already asked, please excuse me and redirect me.

I've tried portable skype & pidgin. Hope I'm not the only who checked the processes in Task Manager (TM). And it's very strange that each X application has two own process: XPortable.exe (1) & X.exe (2). Obviously (1) launches (2). And it's the fact that (1) could be easily killed in TM: (2) continues running as usual.

So the question: why not to quit (1) process after (2) has been launched?

I was just wondering how I can alter Trillian Astra to be able to work WITH THE INSTALLER.

I have made it so that it is portable and can go anywhere and do anything with it, but I can't work it into the installer to make it installable to wherever needed and for anyone to use so that it can be easily updated.

Is there anyone that is capable of assisting me in this way to get it into the installer?

Ok hopefully this can be done with [MoveFiles} I am using PA Launcher 2 beta 3

Here is situation:

I have a file called jajuk.bootstrap in the %USERPROFILE% directory. I have made a copy and placed it into the %PAL:AppData% directory. I would like to remove the original from the %USERPROFILE% and have it upon the start of the program write the AppData file to UserProfile folder. Then when program shuts down return it to the AppData folder.

I have tried ever combo I know of to accomplish this but can not do it

Notice to fellow developers: I am unfortunately going to have very sporadic internet access for the next 3 months, up to possibly 1 year. Accordingly, if I am unable to update Scribus Portable in a relatively timely manner (say, 1 week following a release), if someone else would be so kind as to do so for me, I would appreciate it. If someone lets me know ahead of time if they'd be willing, I should be able to give them access to the sourceforge project.

I need some one or ones to take a look at some code...I have a lot of it commented as parts did not work. I keep getting errors that say :

I am very new to the area of portable, and wanted to know which programs really work to create portables.
And it can be a tutorial describing how to do.

I'm with several porgramas on my computer and wanted to make it portable.
Was in the area of development of the site here and did not understand much, if someone could help me,I know almost 0.1% of creating portable., I would be grateful.

The latest, stable, "normal" version of Eraser, after some fixes to version 6.0.6 is version 6.0.7 released today. Also, on the Eraser web site (eraser.heidi.ie), Joel (one of the developers) has said that the "5" versions are no longer actively developed and supported.

I usualy use a Linux USB boot pendrive, to lock on to the bank.

But i wonder if it is possible, to use an USB portableapps with FireFox.
Or another browser - where it is possible to lockout communication to the harddisk. Then - I think - the connection will be safe.
