Are all apps required to be open source?

Submitted by jomark on March 15, 2010 - 8:08am

Please pardon my lack of understanding here. I have developed an app (not Open Source) in a non- portable version, and have created a version in the lab for portable use. I believe I can get it to subscribe to all the PortableApps format requirements, but it wasn't clear to me whether or not the app itself needs to be Open Source.

Can someone please clarify what the Open Source requirement is that would allow my application to become part of the PortableApps community.

Thank you.

Help me get this Portable -Jump start

I'm planning to make CodeLite portable. It is years since I tested anything on this arena. I don't remember any good concept. So what are your suggestion? (Please don't point me to those posts. I have read them. All I need here is how do I start) Where will I get working template that is so simple to start with?

Here are some hints. Codelite reads three reg entry and nothing else (as per developer).

Thanks a lot

[Fixed] A Trojan During Setup?

Submitted by Mecht_Engnr on March 12, 2010 - 7:14am

Hi,

I have recently upgraded from Portable Apps 1.5 to 1.6. I had no problems until today when my McAfee Virus scan started up automatically today. I shut it down because I had urgent things to do. I started Portable Apps and lo and behold, up pops a McAfee Warning Window with the words (by the way, I have a JPG of the window, but I can't seem to upload it on this forum) (quoting exactly):

McAfee has automatically blocked and removed a Trojan.

About this Trojan
Detected: Artemis!0E1A49A03054(Trojan), Artemis!0E1A49A03054(Trojan)

How to run Qutecom portable

Submitted by alvin on March 10, 2010 - 1:33pm

I would like to run qutecom from a stick (portable)

But I don't know what they mean in these instructions? If some could help with translation in to "no tech language". (seen below) their link: http://trac.qutecom.org/wiki/UserDocumentation

Thanks

Alvin

Running from USB stick

Default config directories

On windows : home/Application Data/qutecom-2.2
On linux: home/.qutecom-2.2
On mac: home/Library/Application Support/qutecom-2.2
you may specify different directory by "-q"

qutecom -q
it's parsed from wengophone/src/model/config/CommandLineParser.cpp

New App: Mozilla Prism Portable

Submitted by weatherkid on March 6, 2010 - 4:56pm

Hello, I am new to the community. I was wondering if anyone is working on making Mozilla Prism a PortableApp, and if not, how do I contact Mozilla to get a thumbs up (I am on #prism and #mozillazine on irc.mozilla.org as weatherkid ATM waiting for a response). Anyways, I'll get started on it, and even if I can't publish it, I can still learn with it. Thanks!

Hi, check out these portable applications, each in just one file!:

[One File] Portable Notepad++ 2.0

[One File] Portable WinRAR Dutch

[One File] Portable Xfire

[One File] Portable VirtuaWin 2.0
^( Unable to add modules or to change hotkeys. 3.0 fix? )

Link to the web-site for downloads: [Link removed due to illegal repackaging of at least WinRAR. From your description of 'one file' I also suspect you've used ThinApp; if you have they'll all be illegal - mod Chris]
