Portable App Development

Hi!

I want to start Google Chrome with the command --proxy-server=localhost:8080. I read that it is possible to include this command in the exe file. But trying to do this since a couple of hours. Is there any tutorial or something similar?

i really became interested in this Forum since i knew that how much a Portable Application can save time and increase Productivity:
U see i wanted to make a Portable Photoshop CS2, and i ended in this topic, https://portableapps.com/node/1426 although i hvn't followed it yet , busy writing this.
: i want to make a NSIS installer, and i m having a hard time understanding and making a NSIS script and making an Installer.

Per the forum thread here, I've put together a portable app package of a portable desktop search appliance (like windows desktop search or google desktop search) that indexes text inside files on the portable drive.
I didn't make the actual search appliance, I just made it portable (with the original developer's permission)

Using the installer 1.02, the files in that should go in the Data directory don't get put there when the portable app is installed.

I've never got this to work. I've added the line in the file and compiled the NSI with a generic icon yet that's still the one that I see in the menu. What's the trick?

The only app I've seen use this is the Skype launcher test from ages ago & I don't think it worked there either. Or am I missing the point?

This is mostly directed at Prapper since I am modifying his launcher for Glary Utilities.

I am creating a launcher for CUE Splitter which only creates a registry file. I am trying to implement language switching in the launcher, but since the language is stored in the registry file, I'm not really sure how to update it. I have included the code below, but it obviously doesn't work. Any help would be appreciated.

Ive been using the format 1, installer for my visual basic application i have created. With no luck

I have created a portable emacs distribution for Emacs 23.1 (EmacsPortable 23.1.0.12). I have described it at:

It assumes your Documents under your USB drive is your home-path. It can be installed locally to speed up the Execution. Afterward, EmacsPortable launches the local installation if present. If run locally with the USB drive in, it will use the emacs customizations from the USB drive. Otherwise it will use the customizations in the windows home directory.

As portabletor(http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=194105) is not updating recently,I tried to compile portabltor using its source code. I worked fine except when I enabled the "help censored users reach the Tor network." or relay traffic for the tor network.

If I enable to option, it shows in the log as follow:

"Failed to open GEOIP file C:\Documents and Settings\myusername\Application Data\tor\geoip. We've been configured to see which countries can access us as a bridge, and we need GEOIP information to tell which countries clients are in."
