Where is Portable Apps Menu Source Code?

Submitted by Dragnovich on August 26, 2008 - 9:38pm

Hello I had been using this program for a year and Love it!!

A friend of me askme about the license, reading the license.txt file says this:

"The source code for this product is available to you under the terms of the GNU GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE v2 (included below) from PortableApps.com"....

Reading this, as far I understand, I can download it, modify it and even create, and distribute a "personal flavor" of the portable apps program (keeping the respective credits).

I try to find the PortableAppsMenu Source codes, but can't find them... so where are they?

OpenOffice.org Template/database automation script

Submitted by jaocon on August 26, 2008 - 3:04am

I am trying to develop a database/script and am not sure the easiest/best direction to start in since I am not a programmer/developer. What I am trying to accomplish appears that it can be done several ways but I would like a developer's advice. I have an oOo template file which needs to update regularly. Some text is static other text would change weekly or would need to check for event dates to see if they are past (for example).

Rerouting system paths

Submitted by dantmusicman on August 25, 2008 - 10:41pm

Hello, I have been following PortableApps.com for a while, and decide to try to portablize a few apps for myself.

The one program that I am trying to portablize writes to a few system folders on install, for example, the Fonts folder. I'm trying to figure out how to handle this, i.e., can I reroute the path in the launcher, or do I have to make it temporarily install the files, and then delete them upon exit. Or maybe there is a third option?

Thanks in advance for your help.

How long does it take to update a portable app if the application it's based on is updated?

Submitted by Donnie on August 25, 2008 - 1:40pm

I wrote that I wanted to try Gimp portable.

Gimp 2.4.7 is released. Now I would like to know how long it takes to make the new version portable. Gimp is just the reason why I asked. You don't need to hurry and this is no complaint. I wait if it doesn't take long. Otherwise I try 2.4.6 portable.

As the question
"How long does it take to update a portable app if the application it's based on is updated?" should make clear I would like a general answer. Average or maximum... what ever you can tell me. Thanks

Keep up this amazing work.

The Use of Drivers in the Portable Arena

Alrighty. I'm working on TI Connect. No, I'm not gonna give out the link except to a few(HINT:IRC :D). I'm leaving over the weekend, and I don't want a bizillion problems cropping up.

BUT: TI Connect and TILP/TILPII both need drivers to function.

Currently, what is the Official PortableApps.Com Method for dealing with such.

I'm gonna look at the WireShark Portable- but what is our official method?

Thanks

SMPlayer HELP!!

I was updating SMPlayer portable and it turns out that they have a new portable package, with screenshots disabled and forbidding it from writing to anywhere but it's own folder. But I try to run it and for some reason MPlayer keeps crashing.
It's about 2/3 of the way done and I'm tring to see if .dvdcss is still being created.
Any help appreciated.
Edit: Work so far: http://nascent-project.org/digitxp/SMPlayerPortable.zip

Add aplication(which doesn't use anything on the machine) to launcher

Submitted by rodrigoasrodrigues on August 20, 2008 - 11:15pm

Hi, I started using portable apps this week, so I'm sorry if this is not the right place for this question or the answer is obvious.

I have some software which doesn't use anything in the computer and I'm already used to use it from my pen drive (such as eclipse, a mod of dev++, and some stuff I wrote).

NSIS Expert help needed, please

Submitted by chezduong on August 20, 2008 - 7:49pm

Hello all. A quick question for all the NSIS experts out there. I have searched, but with no luck.

I would like to create a NSIS launcher which will:

1/ Bundle the 5 Truecrypt (traveler mode) files within the launcher,
2/ Extract the 5 Truecrypt files to the $Temp directory,
3/ Launch Truecrypt.exe with standard/predetermined Truecrypt command line variables,
4/ Wait for the Truecrypt drive to be dismounted, and
5/ Delete the Truecrypt temporary files in the $Temp directory.

wxDownload Fast

Submitted by ljbade on August 19, 2008 - 9:50pm

I am working on a NSI script for wxDownload fast but I am trying to figure out how I can get it to read it's config file. It expects it to be in the current working directory, and am looking for another program or an example that works around this.

I think the best way is to tell wxDownload Fast run in the Data folder (ie set it's working folder to Data).

Any help will be appreciated.
