When doing an update using Firefox's internal updater running within Firefox Portable, the FirefoxPortable.exe launcher does not properly remain running through the update and the app's close after the update. This can result in some empty directories and registry keys left behind on the local machine.
PortableApps.com Platform users that update via the platform's internal updater and users who manually download each release to update are unaffected by this issue.
Hi
What is the optimal directory for Firefox Portable on Windows 10?Should it simply be placed in a root folder, e.g. "C:\FirefoxPortable"?I will be using it on local disk drive.Thank you for your time.
Mysterious phenomenon on a Asus VivoBook S (Windows 10 Pro Version 1709, Build 16299.309, up to date, BIOS up to date): Firefox Portable - no matter which version, no matter which user profile - doesn't start. It pops up briefly and then closes again immediately. Not even a safe start (= with activated shift key) is possible. Permanently installed Firefox works fine, other portable apps - including browsers like Chrome, Opera, Maxthon, Seamonkey, Quipzilla - too. No problems on other laptops (Acer, Toshiba, HP).
At first, I thought this was another instance of FF opening up due to the default GUI that opened until I figured out what was happening.
There is a problem with this other 'Profile' folder being created, buried in the 'Users" folder running Win7. It is not a duplicate of the customized folder within the actual program folder, but just a 'default' profile folder that doesn't get updated when the regular profile changes (add ons, etc).
There are 3 folders (only one seems to have data in it) buried in that annoying 'Users' folder in Windows (W7 specifically).
I want to put the Firefox PortableESR folder on my desktop and use it.
It works without problems, but is this usage problematic?
Please excuse my poor English.
When you start the installer, "Portable Portable folder" is created.
I'd like to change the settings, archive it and redistribute it to customers, are there any problems?
Please excuse my poor English.
Why is it my Ffx v56.02 keeps updating?
I have v56.02 installed and do NOT want to update to the completely useless newer versions that are unable to use plugins.
This version has been set as my default app and is 'installed' on an internal HDD.
It all started with the new v57 updating the app folder and resetting the toolbars.
Despite NEVER actually updating this version!!!
Hi
I’ve seen Firefox Portable setups where I could download it and then once i opened it up, it would have me login to a proxy, and then I could have access to online accounts that were logged in with user names and passwords filled in.
I wanted to set this up so I could have my VAs work on my Instagram accounts without giving them the actual login information. I’d also want to block access to certain pages so that they couldn’t alter the login and steal the account from me.
Is there a video tutorial or online tutorial oh how to set something like this up?
