Firefox Portable

Hi, I have been using ffx 2.0.0.2 for a few hours now and its condition is not good.

The whole internet is slowed down whils using ffx, the images link on google ffx homepage does not work and pages load very slowly.

Has anyone encountered this behavior?

Isn't this an illegal version of firefox?

BTW: it leaves the /mozilla folder in Appdata.

I am using portable firefox in a public internet cafe. The PC which I am using has firefox (normal one). If i am using portable firefox (from my usb pen drive) in that machine where the cookies and temporary internet files are stored.
How can I ensure that private data is not getting stored in local hard drive?

i would like to ask how to combine portable firefox with portable download manager such as flasget or idm

After FireFoxportable runs the latest update and I restart Firefox protable, I am unable to get the program to start. In the Task Manager under Processes tab, "Firefoxportable.exe" run then it goes away and nothing happens. Also, under the Applications tab in Task Manager, there is a file labled "_sp" that does the same thing. I am running this on my USB flash drive. When I delete FireFox portable from the drive and reinstall the program, it will run until it updates again. Any help on this would be appriciated.

Is there a profile manager with Portable Firefox? I have used the -P and -profilemanager switches, but neither starts the profile manager.

After installing the latest update, Firefox started up in a new profile instead of the existing one. If the profile manager cannot be started, what is the easiest way to get my profile back?

I am a pretty basic user. I bought a 2 GB SanDisk Cruzer Titanium that came pre-loaded with U3. I started using the U3 version of Firefox 1.5.0.x (just updated to 1.5.0.10) and liked it. I have Firefox set the way I like it, with specific bookmarks in folders on the toolbar, etc.

I have decided to dump U3 and convert to PASuite.

What is the simplest, most straightforward way to make this conversion, while preserving my Firefox info / bookmarks and retain them and have them port to / be active in Firefox 2.0.x in PASuite when I install it?

I just allowed FFP 1.5.09 to update to 1.5.10
I am waiting a while before I go to FFP2.x

I notice something strange. It "seems" that FFP.exe (the launcher?) is launching ff.exe and then exiting?!

FFP.exe appears in the task manager and then disappears.
The files that appear in user APPDATA appear and then go way.

I thought that the launcher (ffp.exe) continued to run till firefox was closed, the way it does in TBP and CWP(I just tested it, the launcher TBP.exe stays open untill TB.exe is closed and than does the clean up in user APPDATA, same with CWP)

WHEN I TRY TO DOWNLOAD TO MY USB DRIVE THE UPDATE TO FIREFOX 2.0.0.2, THE INSTALL PROGRAM FIRST ATEMMPT A "PARTIAL" INSTALLATIÓN BUT NOT WORK. THEN AUTOMATICTLY RUN A TOTAL REINSTALL (7 MB) AND THE RESULT WAS OK BUT IT TAKES SO MUCH TIME (30 MIN IN 512 MB DSL CONECTION) ¿THIS IS NORMAL?

A dummy question.

I got a new vista machine today. The portables apps (firefox, thunderbird et al) all work, but one important part has a problem. I got an error message that says something like

Could not initialize the browser's security component. The most likely problem is your brower's profile directory. ....

With Firefox, I can browse some sites, but I can't log on to any sites that require userid or passwords. With Thunderbird, it has the same error message and then it just sits there spinning its wheels.

Any ideas how to fix it?
