Firefox Portable

Hi,
I love to have multiple portable FFs
Up until today, I used IceDragon, because it allowed that.
The latest version v38 does not allow that.
I had been avoiding Portable Apps, because I just feel uncomfortable having a 'front end' (aka the Launcher)
I took a punt and installed your FF v41, hoping that somehow I could get it the way I want.
During the 'Install' (cough), I directed it to a folder I had created.
It is in there and running fine.

Unlike previous versions, in the new version 41.0 you can't launch multiple profiles natively. What caused this change?

I hope you guys can help me with this. At least I'm hoping to get some ideas. I'm trying to describe my problem as good as possible.

First of all let me say that it doesn't matter if I use Firefox Portable or a ESR version, both behave the same. Out of 10 releases 9 versions cause the same problem. Also this problem haunts me like forever now. I'm on Win7 SP1 64bit if that's important.

Firefox Portable 40.0.2, ESR 38.2.0, Beta 41, Dev 42, and Nightly 43 fail to properly alert that another copy of Firefox is already running after they have been run once. This is due to the launcher using the parent.lock file within the profile as an indicator of whether that profile is currently in use. This file used to serve that purpose but no longer does. The launcher needs updating to use a system-wide mutex the way 7-Zip and other custom launchers do, as well as PAL.

When I run firefox portable it uses the settings I have from my Win 8 PC with firefox installed.

So clearly not separate or secure. Seems to me. If this has already been asked/answered direct me to that thread

Hi, I have a very annoying problem with Flash Player in Firefox Portable on windows7 and 8.
I put the files "FlashUtil32_18_0_0_232_Plugin.exe", "NPSWF32_18_0_0_232.dll" and "plugin.vch" in the "FirefoxPortable\App\DefaultData\plugins" folder. I restarted the app and, on my windows XP machine, it worked perfectly!
Then when I used the browser on windows7 and 8 but it didn't work! I tried it on 5 different machines, 4 with different flavors of win7 and at least on my Win8.1 tablet but it's always the same: where the video should be played there is a blank black square!

Is there any way I can have the Portable Apps Backup feature automatically save/restore browsing "History" from my profile data backups? I have tried searching and there is scant and very confusing info out there on this topic. Can I get a clear and concise answer on this? It is very important to me!

what is the problem again with portable firefox???
it is so often that every few weeks a problem appears
why is this thing so buggy? is it the portable implementation buggy? is it that the portable firefox doesn't get updated as often as needed? is the original firefox buggy?
anyway, now, I cannot bookmark any webpage
I click the star and it doesn't get blue. I click CTRL+D and it doesn't pop up anything
what is the problem?
how can I fix it?

Over the last year I have been having issues with Gmail running really slow when using the portable version of FireFox. It takes forever to load and slows the entire browser down to the point that its unusable. On any other website it runs fine so I don't think its a hardware issue. For awhile things were running fine then updates started to come through that I should have denied. This lag is so bad that I cant even type out a reply unless I wait for 10 minutes for it to do whatever it has to for it to work fine. Any help in getting my Gmail to work properly again would be appreciated.
