One-Click Solution for Profile Transfer

Submitted by Kaputt on March 21, 2007 - 1:02pm

Hello everyone,

is there a one-click-solution for transferring the profile settings (including bookmarks, extensions, passwords etc.) from my local installation of Firefox to Firefox Portable (on my USB-Flash-Stick) and back? I would like to keep profile data of both Firefoxes synchronized.

I haven't found any clue in the FAQ nor via searching the boards, although I assumed my request to be covering a commonly desired feature.

I would be glad to receive some advise.

Thanks a lot!

Michael

Downloading

Submitted by jessejazza on March 20, 2007 - 5:55pm

I have just installed the 2.0.0.2 version and find that it is still slow [like with ver 1.5] on downloads. I'd be interested to know why this is? It seemed to get stuck when i set it [in options] to download to a hard disk folder. Seemed to be better with the option of choosing a drive/folder to download to.

For ver 1.5 it was recommended to use the Statusbar addon [think! from memory].

It would seem FireFox doesn't like large downloads - i switched to IE earlier today to download XAMPP. But it was still slow i feel with some pdfs of 350k.

Portable Firefox & 2GB flash drive

I'm having trouble getting the portable edition of firefox working on an additional flash drive of mine. I'm currently using the portable apps suite to manage programs, and have tried several methods of install.

1) If I try to use the portable apps menu, or simple run the .exe, the install haults at 44% and locks up.

2) If I run the .exe and install to a local directory on my hard drive and then move the FirefoxPortable directory onto my flash drive, firefox operates extremely sluggish.

I assume there is a compatibility issue present in how 2gb flash drives work?

Problems installing Flash on my portable

I've tried installing Flash into my Portable Firefox. I followed this link:

https://portableapps.com/u3support/firefox_for_u3#plugins

but it did not work. I did get the yellow bar mentioned in the article but it indicated that I was being blocked from downloading. I re-set Firefox to allow downloads from both fpdownload.macromedia.com and macromedia.com (as well as portableapps.com). However whenever I click on the link now nothing happens, the plugin does not install. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Damn...

... what is Mozilla going for? Just having released 2.0.0.2 a few weeks ago there is already a new version 2.0.0.3 (+1.5.0.11) out. What is that good for?

importing passwords

I've read the explanation on the support page and I know how to find my profile and my password settings for Firefox (on my computer). What I can't figure out is where to copy them to on my flash U3 drive. The explanation says to copy them to the FirefoxPortable\Data\settings directory. Where is that and how do I find it? Thank you.
