Firefox Portable

Google Gears Portable now available on addons.mozilla.org

I went to some pretty careful lengths to put this together so as to fall under USC 17 fair use exemptions, but I believe this is legal to do, so here you go!

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/13492/

This version of Gears installs and works in Mozilla Firefox, Portable Edition, as well as any non-Administrator account in a normal Firefox installation. This is because it installs into the user profile, NOT system-wide.

Extension problem in Firefox 3.5 Portable

Submitted by go4saket on August 2, 2009 - 8:40am

Hello friends!

I had been using Portable version of Firefox 3.0.10 on a Win XP SP3 platform for some time and never faced any problem. Yesterday when I installed the Portable Firefox 3.5, none of my extensions are working. I even tried to install the latest versions of those extensions which support V.3.5 but after installation it asks me to restart Firefox and after restarting there is no sign of the extension installed.

Why is this happening and how can I resolve this problem.

history not searched when typing in location bar

Hi,

I opened a topic over at the mozilla forum because I'm experiencing the problem that when typing in the location bar my history (sites I've visited before) is not searched. Only sites I've TYPED before are searched.
They suggested it might be an issue due to my portable version.

Here's the original thread: http://support.mozilla.com/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?locale=en-US&comme...

Any hints are highly appreciated!

Corporate intranet/network question (authentication prompt)

Weird question for y'all. Every now and then - not even every day - I'll be on a site, doesn't matter which one, and I'll click a link or click something and it'll pop up a Javascript warning saying "The server at [corporate intranet proxy server] and port [port] wants your username and password." I'll hit cancel, and it'll change to a page saying my Internet access can't continue until I supply credentials. But it doesn't actually do anything, I hit Back and click the link again and it's fine.
