Watched Newsgroup threads

Submitted by patrick013 on February 3, 2011 - 8:06pm

Hi,

Is there any way besides stars to watch a newsgroup thread, perhaps placing
a sync'd copy in the newsgroup local folders area till expired and/or saved there as well. Windows Live Mail does this and it sure would be handy if I could
find where TBird has that feature for usenet.

thx.

Lightning linking to google

Submitted by thewrightgeeks on February 2, 2011 - 3:58pm

If i install thunderbird and its plugin lightning does this allow the facility to connect to google calendar. Reading on the web an additional plugin is required.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/provider-for-google-c...

My goal is that i can sync with my phone by adding into Lightning and using google as a transport.

Thanks

Black background with black text scrolling issue

Submitted by darkstar on February 2, 2011 - 1:32pm

Hello - I have a strange and annoying problem going on with Thunderbird Portable 3.1.7 running under Wine 1.2/Linux (openSuSE 11.3 x64). Many of my emails are being shown with a black background and black text making them unreadable. I have tried setting all the various color options for background and text but to no avail.

Privacy, password protection, unsafe software

I use Thunderbird portable on my usb flash drive at uni and everywhere else. Privacy of email is absolutely important to protect against identity theft. Portable Thunderbird is a beautiful portable app with some really great features except for the one I need the most, and that is a password protection feature. Before accessing any emails, there needs to be a requirement to enter the correct password.

Installing Lightning to integrate Sunbird as a TB portable Add-on

Submitted by ka.aly on January 16, 2011 - 4:05pm

Hi

Thunderbird Portable is 3.0.6. I downloaded Lightning 1.0 from portableapps.com. When I tried installing as an add-on from TB's Tools menu, I get a an installation fail message advising that it is not compatible.

Can anyone advise what is the compatible Lightning version, and where to download. Actually.. Generically.. What is the URL to check compatibility of any protable app with any portale app add-on?

Many thanks,

lost all my info

Submitted by judgemack on January 12, 2011 - 10:03pm

I started thunderbird this morning and none of my accounts or email showed up. I just upgrade to 3 and set up my email accounts again. How can I get the emails from thunderbird 2 into thunderbird 3? everything seems to work fine in 3 as far as sending and receiving goes, but all my emails from last year and all are not showing up. They are still in the directory J:\PortableApps\ThunderbirdPortable\Data\profile\Mail. I would love to move all the messages from there into the new inboxes, etc. Can anyone help?

Suddenly "NO Disk " Error

Submitted by guy.chamberlain on January 11, 2011 - 12:13am

I have read something of similar problems but never a real solution - when I load TB and a couple of other apps, I get the error "There is no disk in the drive. Please insert disk into drive \Device\Harddisk4\DR81, options Cancel, Try Again or Continue. As I hit Cancel I get alternating messages which are similar referencing Harddisk5. This only happens on my home PC and only started recently - my work laptop and personal laptop do not do this. The common answer seems to be "live with it" but it is annoying and a lack of fix is irritating.

SMTP problem in Portable Thunderbird when using VNP-connection

Submitted by otto.hanninen on January 5, 2011 - 4:28am

My Thunderbird (3.1.7) works great - except for one thing:

when outside the office I have to use VPN to reach our mail server; works fine for incoming mail, but for some reason the outgoing mail SMTP-server cannot be accessed! We compared this with a stand alone installation of the same Thunderbird version and the SMTP-connection works for colleagues that use standalone version but not in the portable installation. Any ideas for the cause - and any solutions?
