Running Thunderbird

Submitted by georgecoffey5 on February 23, 2006 - 12:05pm

Hi all,

Hows it going. I am having problems in running Thunderbird

Ever since I moved everything over to the hard drive, it won't run at all. So I went to delete it all together and it said

" Cannot delete parent.lock It is being used by another person or program. Close any programs that might be using the file and try again."

and the same with any file I tried to delete in the Thunderbird directory.

So I downloaded the newer version 1.5 RC1 same again, I redownloaded the 1.0.7 version and nothing. I have transferred these back to the USB, same thing. I would really appreciate your help. Thanks

Error display - ""The application failed to initialize properly - 0xc0000005"
But portable filezilla, firefox, NVU, openoffice and the installer version of thunderbird did start up normally on magic twin system.

Hi people,

I have a problem, i just prepared my PTB on my HDD on the PC and there the application works fine. But when I copy the flder to my USB-Stick I get a strange screen with some kind of HTML-Tags or something like this.

I hope there is someone who has the same problem.

Maybe it is one of my extensions, but i hope not ^^

PTB vs. U3 TB

Submitted by wsm23 on February 18, 2006 - 9:31am

I am using TB from a U3 flash drive.

I know you do not have a TB versiono on U3, it is from yourbrainz.com. The problem I am having is that the file size is massive(77mb). I was considering using PTB 1.5 but how do I install and then upgrade my drive without losing the mail that is currently on U3. Does the profile folder contain this info? I have a second flash drive that I could you also for temp transfer.

What do you suggest?

Newsgroups

Submitted by georgecoffey5 on February 17, 2006 - 11:26am

I am just after discovering your incredible idea of running Portable Apps off your USB. I have Portable Firefox 1.5, Thunderbird 1.07 and Sunbird 0.3a1. I like the idea of bringing your files with you everywhere. However I am having problems in trying to get the newsgroup feature of Thunderbird working. I have the RSS feature working. I am trying to get the Microsoft newsgroups to be downloaded but it keeps saying Connection Timed Out

how to read rss offline?

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on February 17, 2006 - 4:25am

Is there any program (maybe Thunderbird? I tried but I did not get it) that lets me download rss feeds and read them offline? Instead of trying to connect every once I try to read an rss?

My Linux at home is OFFLINE and downloading rss at university would be right if I could read them at home.

Did I miss any special configuration at Thunderbird?

Thank you.

I got latest Portable Thunderbird(PT) and I found strange things with RSS ....
Everytime I run PT for the first time since PC run, it checks mails fine .... but only mail, PT finds no new RSS things ... NONE, even if I try manualy downloading there, etc ...
but if I close PT (checked, process closed) .. and run it again, it downloads RSS properly ...
