Auto-Update for TB

How do I get TB to trigger for an update? Firefox did this right away, and I haven't had any issues with it, but TB won't update. I don't want to try to install the regular install program to the portable folder.

PT hangs on Get Mail

Submitted by 3Designer on April 6, 2006 - 2:18pm

I'm using PT 1.5 on Windows and it's just started hanging on a Get Mail command.

It will usually download the first piece, then hang on the second one. It just started this behaviour recently, and I can't figure it out. The next eMail message isn't unusually large or an html message necessarily.

The only thing I can think of that I'm doing strangely is using PT on a Mac and on Windows accessing the same profile. The Mac version (also 1.5) seems to occasionally hang on program start.

Any thoughts? Thanks.

Auto Update?

Submitted by colfrank on April 5, 2006 - 1:04pm

Installed v1.5, nice changes over the previous PT.
Then, PT got an auto-update.... since then v1.5 has been very slow and constantly thrashing the USB drive. Junk is now turned off and it still thrashes and takes forever to load.
Deleted xul.mfl, restarted, no change

Address Book question

Submitted by guvenck on March 30, 2006 - 6:14pm

Hello, thanks for this great site and great apps. I've bought myself a 1GB USB 2.0 flash disk (had a 1.1 USB 1GB before) after I discovered the site and copied the portable apps into it. For now, I use the Portable Thunderbird and it rocks, to be mobile and not to worry whether my important email message is at home or at work.

I used TheBat Professional Edition before. It is a VERY advanced email client but despite that it had very little community support and as of yesterday, I jumped on the Thunderbird train.

I've imported my previous mailboxes with absolutely no problems. All I had to do was to export Unix mailboxes from TheBat and copy them into my account directories of PTB.

RSS feature not showing pictures

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on March 29, 2006 - 9:05am

Some RSS feeds that I have added in Portable Thunderbird will not show at all and some web pages will only display text and not even the web site graphics while my regular Thunderbird shows the pages correctly on the same RSS feeds. Is this an issue with PT or is it just an option that I am missing?

clicking link in Thunderbird causes new Firefox profile to be created

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on March 27, 2006 - 6:25pm

How do I get Portable Thunderbird to always launch the existing Portable Firefox rather than trying to create a new non-portable Firefox profile each time?

I run Portable Thunderbird & Portable Firefox. When I click on a link in Thunderbird AND I have Firefox running everything works as it should. However when I click on link in Thunderbird and Firefox IS NOT running, it causes an error message.

Invoking PortableFirefox through Portable Thunderbird ??

Submitted by allen-1 on March 25, 2006 - 5:53pm

I'm running PortableThunderbird 1.0.7 on a USB 512mb memory stick. Along with that app, I've got PortableFirefox installed on the same device.

Both run fine, and I can move the memory stick from machine to machine and keep my application data/environment consistent. Which saves an incredible amount of time and effort on my part as I move around.

The only thing I haven't been able to figure out, (so far), is how to directly invoke PortableFirefox from a link contained within a message I'm reading in PortableThunderbird.

When I mouse over the link, it displays correctly in the status bar. If I copy/paste the link PortableFirefox finds it, but I can't simply click, double-click, or right-click on the link and have PortableFirefox act on the URL.
