Firefox on Sandisk U3 Cruzer freezes

Submitted by dosvader on January 13, 2009 - 4:00pm

I run Firefox 2.0.0.17 on a Sandisk U3 cruzer. The temp files are located on the hard drive. About every 3 seconds it freezes typing and mouse movements and clicks. For example: here is (freeze) some sample (freeze) text. I have the following extensions: Better Gmail2; Google toolbar for Firefox; imacros for Firefox; Permatabs; Plain old favorites; Speed dail; and Stumbleupon.

Any ideas on how to cure this?

"Better Youtube" worked in FFP 2 but not 3.0.5

Submitted by MattPort on January 13, 2009 - 12:00pm

Hi there, I had FFP 2 on my desktop and had removed regular FF. Everything was working well. To backup and upgrade to FFP 3.0.5 I copied to my usb thumbdrive then successfully followed instructions here:

https://portableapps.com/support/firefox_portable#upgrading

Better Youtube greasemonkey thingie [stops automatic play when opening video] works fine on both my old desktop FFP 2 and the copy I made to the thumb drive. It is not working in the new FFP 3 either from the thumb or I repeated the whole update process above to my desktop copy.

Windows 7 problem

There is a little problem with Windows 7.
The quick launch has been merged with the task bar. Or the task bar has been merged with the quick launch. Who knows?

Anyway, the task bar now looks and works like the quick launch. But with the difference that the shortcut button, after the program launched, now acts like the task bar. Maybe I better use some pictures...

You can "pin" applications to the taskbar. Basically what the quick launch did. (No application is running at this point)

Multiple Users at Once?

Submitted by IanSVT on January 8, 2009 - 2:38pm

Hello,

I'm trying to use Firefox portable for a backwards reason that it was probably designed. I want to put it on a network drive and allow multiple people to access it at the same time. The first person can launch the program with no problems. Each person thereafter will get this error:

"Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you much first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system".

Any thoughts?

Not sure why this would be happening, but I put the FFP in the Shared documents folder along with WallpaperSwitcher and when I run FFP logged in as the Limited user, it gives me a popup first that it can't do read/write functions, and then it runs. Logged as Admin it is fine.

When I was first using FFP 3.1BETA2, it wouldn't go to the home page. I had to manually click the homepage. I reinstalled with FFP 3.01b and I get the same message, but then when I click okay it loads up the homepage.

Running on a WinXPsp3 on a dell, if it matters.
