how to delete registry key of firefox portable 3.x within WIN XP without Administration account

Submitted by sl552114 on December 9, 2008 - 4:07pm

Alright, that's the issue: I can run firefox portable on the company computer, but of course it leaves the registry keys after being used.
Since firefox can 'write' them there without the administration account, how can I delete them from there again? I am thinking of a batch file maybe. But unfortuantely I cannot test stuff, but I don't want my admins to unveal my "dirty little secret", since then they'll find a way to block that as well, I'm sure!

Any quick help is absolutlely highly appreciated!

Thanks in advance...

Persistent title popup in Firefox 3.0.4

Submitted by simong on December 9, 2008 - 6:31am

Hi, can't find any other reference to this anywhere but I'm having a problem with the last title popup on a page appearing when my cursor is hovered over anything on a page. If an item has a title attribute the title changes but then it persists until the cursor passes over another item with a title attribute and so on. This seems to have been introduced with 3.0.4 but I'm not sure if it's a Firefox or Portable Apps problem as I only run Portable Firefox under Windows on my office laptop. Any ideas?

Can not safe settings anymore

Submitted by MH07 on December 6, 2008 - 4:15am

Hi there,

I have installed Firefox Portable 3.0.04 on an XP system where I have no admin rights.

Due to no apparent reason, I now can not safe changes to settings (Tools/Options/*) anymore.
Everytime I restart Firefox Portable the changes are gone. Changes via about:config do not sustain either.

Any ideas?

Common Profile for multiple Firefox instalations

Submitted by Frank1 on December 6, 2008 - 3:53am

I usually use 2 computers, but sometimes I need to work on others. I have installed Firefox Portable on my USB flash drive and works well on both computers. The only problem is I have difficulty making FFP the default web browser. I guess, since it is portable, maybe it's not supposed to be.

So, what I would like to do is install full Firefox on the 2 machines and configure them to use the profile that is on the USB flash drive (with FFP). In this way all 3 Firefoxes would use the same profile. Only one computer is used at a time. Is this feasible?

Custom Search buttons missing from Google Toolbar

Submitted by kiko_magna on December 4, 2008 - 4:41am

One of the cool features of the Google Toolbar for Firefox is that you can create a custom search by right-clicking on any search engine's text input box.

I have like 10 such custom searches in my toolbar, but they are all missing if I run my copy of Firefox Portable on another machine.

Does anyone have an idea on how to solve this?

Thanks, K.

Submitted by wippietw on December 1, 2008 - 3:43am

Hi All,

I am new to this FF Portable. I have a question regards on proxy setting.

If my PC- A , it is using "proxy configuration script" to run on the local drive and in my FF Portable, I have select it as "AUTO Select Proxy.." and it seems not working. Until I have copy the same " proxy configuration script" like my PC-A into the FF Portable , then it only able to run.

Firefox bookmarks location?

Submitted by dstock76 on November 30, 2008 - 11:27am

I just installed firefox 3.04. Before I could just copy my bookmarks.html to the /Data/profile directory and it would use that. Firefox 3 will not use this and I can not find any place where it is pulling the bookmarks from. I can import them and it will save them but I can't find any html file that it is pulling them from. I would like the ability to manually copy them again. Any help would be apprecitated!!!

Thank you,
Dan
