Updating to Firefox 3

Submitted by getco on August 3, 2008 - 5:44am

I have searched for this but couldn't find the answer I need. So if it has been posted before - my apologies.

The questions - I'm running on FFP2.0.0.16:

1. Do I update by simply downloading the FFP3 file and installing it on top of FFP2 and it will get all my settings/profile/etc. from the old version or I'll have to manually remove FFP2, then install FFP3, then do all my settings again?

2. If I don't like FFP3 can I switch back to FFP2 without losing my settings, profile, etc.?

Thank you.

When I run PortableFirefox, does it write any cookies, cache, bookmarks, password etc anywhere on C: , e.g. users/Appdata folder?

Or is all activity within PortableFirefox stored inside its own folder?

And where is the PortableFirefox v3 cache located? I cannot see it anywhere inside the PoretableFirefox folder.

Thank you

CustomizeGoogle Addon

Submitted by featheredone on July 31, 2008 - 5:55pm

The Customize Google addon has stopped working correctly in Firefox Portable 3.*. It works fine in the normal vesion of Firefox, but in the portable version it does not remove ads from the search results page. Ugh. I have verified on several different machines that with a fresh install with default settings across the board and only the Customize Google addon installed the problem only occurs in FF Portable. Is there something different between the two versions that would cause this? Is anyone else having this problem?

Startup of multiple tabs no longer working

Submitted by aewold on July 29, 2008 - 3:04pm

When I attempt to start Portable Firefox 3.0.1 with multiple tabs, using the "AdditionalParameters=http://www.yahoo.com|http://www.google.com" line in the FirefoxPortable.ini file, it fails to open the first tab and doesn't open the additional tab(s).

After investigating this further, I see that any colon after the initial colon is being removed.

How to disable Firefox Portableapps splash screen?

Submitted by Terrine on July 29, 2008 - 5:48am

How does one disable the annoying Firefox 3 Portableapps splash screen?

We all want to be closer to God, but this is hardly the way to draw His attention - or anyone else's for that matter Smile

A Web search produced only suggestions on how to do it in previous versions, and they don't seem to work.

Anyone?

Firefox bookmarks and All-in-One sidebar toolbar

Submitted by tradeinthailand on July 29, 2008 - 1:34am

Hi All,

I have just found the range of s/w available to run on my USB drive and am having so much fun with it.

I have installed Firefox and a number of add-ons.

This morning I was setting up some of my important bookmarks within the All-in-One sidebar toolbar. When I then loaded up on my computer at work none of the bookmarks were there. They were not on the Bookmarks toolbar or on the All-in-One Sidebar.

Can anyone give me some help with this.

Thanks in advance

Chris R
