IoBit Uninstaller Portable Not Portable

Submitted by hayashibara on August 16, 2015 - 2:29pm

Just ran the portable version of iobit uninstaller and it writes entries to the appData roaming folder:

IOBit/PPMain.ini
IOBit/IObit Uninstaller/UninstallHistory.ini
IOBit/IObit Uninstaller/SoftwareCache.ini
IOBit/IObit Uninstaller/Main.ini
IOBit/IObit Uninstaller/DistrustPlugin.ini
IOBit/IObit Uninstaller/BCleanerdb

Is there a setting I missed? Otherwise this needs removing from the site.

Portable Skype (7.7.0.102) insists on updating

Submitted by r.a.vanbuuren on August 14, 2015 - 4:11pm

Hi,

really a big fan of your PortableApps!

One (really, just one) is bugging me for some days now - SkypePortable.

The PortableApps.com version is currently 7.7.0.102, the SkypeSetupFull.exe from http://www.skype.com/go/getskype-full is at 7.8.0.102. When I start SkypePortable, it immediately shows an update dialog, which I can cancel of course, but it's really nasty.

Hope that it would be possible for you guys to update Portable Skype...

Thanks & best!

[Fixed] IObit Portable Uninstaller leaves autorun entry

Submitted by bar1004 on August 8, 2015 - 4:09am

I just notices that IObit Portable Uninstaller leaves an entry in autorun every time I launch it, is there any way to fix this, i.e. to prevent it from creating it? More info on entry from Autoruns:
\Uninstaller_SkipUac_Bar h:\portableapps\iobituninstallerportable\app\uninstaller\iobituninstaler.exe

[Eraser] Unused Space, Context Menu, Tray Icon

A few questions:

1. Unused Space

Whenever I uncheck the 3 checkboxes under Preferences > Erasing > Unused Disk Space > Overwrite, it doesn't stay. If I exit the menu and then re-enter it, they're right back to being checked. How do I disable the option to erase unused disk space?

2. Context Menu

Google Chrome Portable Won't Update

There's seemingly no search function for this forum, and I don't have time to search one by one through the countless pages of posts, so I'm posting a new question.

Anyway, as per the title, Google Chrome Portable won't update. Every time I go to about:chrome, I keep the error message

Update failed (error: 1)An error occurred while checking for updates: Update check failed to start (error code 1: 0x80004005).

[Fixed] MuseScore Update to 2.0.2 broken ?

Submitted by hfelton on August 3, 2015 - 6:20am

howdee,

just did an update (maybe been a month) and everything worked fine except for MuseScore...

apparently it 'wants' a 2.0.2 ; but there is no-such-paf ? i found the 2.0.1 in sourceforge
(which i apparently already had updated to - but had not used myself till checking things out)
but im not sure whether there -needs- to be a 2.0.2 or whether there was a mistaken update...

mostly -fyi- since i think everything is ok...

thanx, h.

TreeSize Free now supports network drives

Submitted by Mavis Beacon on July 29, 2015 - 1:23am

The TreeSize Free page (https://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/treesize-free-portable) states " Note that TreeSize Free will not work on network drives. Purchasing TreeSize Personal or Professional will enable this functionality.".

This initially turned me off, but I looked at the creator's website and found that recent releases do support (some) network drives. In the changelog I found the following:
