A free program launcher like the dock in MacOS X.

In order to add icons, drag and drop a file (.exe, shortcut, etc.) straight from Explorer to the dock area.

In order to delete an icon, drag and drop the icon out of dock. Place the PNG images for your icons in the icons folder.

Right-click on the icons in the dock, choose 'Property' and choose your icons images there. Right-click anywhere on your dock background and choose 'Setting' to change the settings that apply to the dock itself.

PFF Cross-Platform Extension Weirdness

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on February 1, 2006 - 2:48pm

I've got PFF 1.5 cross platform running on my USB key. The browser itself works just fine on both platforms, but I've been seeing some strange behavior with extensions.

I'm running, among others, Greasemonkey and Adblock Plus. I set them up on OS X, and everything was fine. Half the time when I run PFF, Adblock works fine and all my GM scripts work fine. The other half, neither work at all. Both extensions run, but they don't actually do anything. The menus are up, GM claims the scripts are running, but nothing actually happens. In fact, even the DOM inspector doesn't work. It runs, but it sees no nodes. This strikes me as extraordinarily strange.

Request and Question (long post)

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on January 21, 2006 - 3:31pm

First:
I want to request portable versions of YPops and Hotmail Popper. While both programs work easily on a thumb drive I have to setup network settings on first use in a new pc so they don't conflict with each other, I was hoping to engrained my network setup into the programs.
I need to change the port numbers of both programs so they don't conflict with each other. I use them with portable thunderbird so I can get my yahoo and hotmail emails directly. I just need to be able to save the network settings for both directly on the thumb drive.

Hope that made sense...

Second:
I Use PStart for my "start menu" Is there A way that I can make an open ended shortcut to the program so that whatever drive gets automatically assigned to the thumbdrive it will recognize the drive and find the folder?

PStart Icons Not Displaying

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on January 19, 2006 - 8:38am

Hello everyone. I am having some trouble with all icons in PStart that are not embedded into the .exe. Every linked icon shows up with the generic icon that Windows uses when it doesn't know what program to use to open a file. This all started after I installed Nero 7. After I installed Nero 7, the icons showed up as Nero PhotoSnap files. I uninstalled Nero, (using the uninstaller from the website, which is supposed to remove all traces of nero) and now they are just the generic Windows icons. This is just on my work computer, I have tried my flash drive on several other machines here and at home, and they display correctly. Anyone else have this problem too, or have any idea of how to fix it?

Portable Linux already exists

Most Linux users are familar with Damn Small Linux. Their goal is to provide thin, yet full featured Linux Live Business Card CD. It offers a full suite of applications, sound and networking support and even extending it with add-ons without re-mastering the LiveCD. In fact, yesterday they released ver 2.1.

For a while now, they've offered an "embedded" version aimed at x86 machines and utilizes QEMU as its x86 virtual machine. It's different only in that you can launch it from a Windows Batch script or Linux x86 shell script.

The embedded version also has a 60 meg virtual harddrive to save your changes.
