Picture Viewer/Editor

I run xnview from my flash as a portable image utility. From the help file:

"With XnView you can quickly and easily view, process and convert image files. The universal program is able to read more than 400 different formats and then convert them to other formats such as GIF, BMP, JPG, PNG, multi page TIFF. XnView can also display video formats, many digital camera formats and more exotic formats such as Amiga IFF and Calamus. "

PStart Issue

Submitted by gao0nline on January 5, 2006 - 7:13pm

Whenever I use PStart, it usually takes 2 clicks or so to open it. Why is this so? And even after I close down PStart, it still shows on Task Manager. This isn't really a trouble, but I am curious as to why this happens.

PStart Minor Issue

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on January 4, 2006 - 5:53am

Hi - I Just wanted to resolve this minor issue with PStart. I love the program - it's simple and clean, yet advanced and professional, a truly great idea.

It's just that when I open it by clicking the system tray icon, it shows in the middle of the dektop. I have tried moving it to the lower right of the screen, closing it, then re-opening it, but it still shows in the middle. Is there a way of ensuring that it stays in the lower-right of the desktop when I open it?

Portable Firefox + Portable RoboForm.

Submitted by CreativeNRG on December 31, 2005 - 4:35am

I thought I would share this with everyone as I didn't see the application listed on this site.

Portable Firefox + Portable RoboForm

Portable Firefox can be used from any portable drive without installing it on a computer.

http://www.roboform.com/browsers.html#browser_mozilla

The Mozilla Adapter executable didn't work for me so I just went ahead and installed the roboform-firefox-1.5.xpi extension and it works a treat.

Pass2Go (Portable RoboForm) was the first application I had that was truly portable and got me interested in trying to run everything I need from standalone installations on my portable drive. Then I discovered John T. Haller and his portable applications such as FireFox and Thunderbird which was great and then became an obsession ;). I am glad that this community has grown and will hopefully drive the development of more of these types of applications. Keep up the good work.

Portable IMs

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on December 28, 2005 - 5:03am

only Gaim is mentioned on this site, but there's at least one more: Miranda (www.miranda-im.org).

the standard plugin set that comes with it makes a perfectly portable app (which is sometimes a pity, like after you move to a lower res video, as it stores window positions in its db).

Is TrueCrypt Portable?

Submitted by nanobreaker on December 14, 2005 - 2:49pm

Is it truecrypt already portable?
Under the Traveller Mode in The User Guide.pdf section it says that "after examining the registry file, it may be possible to tell that TrueCrypt was run on a Windows system even if it is run in traveller mode" (not sure if I should use it).

('.')?? Hey John, is your write-up on truecrypt set to be released soon?
