I do not remember what I was messing around with before this started happening, but I am not able to install Google Chrome Extensions any more. I get this error dialogue when I try (CTRL+C):

---------------------------
Extension Installation Failure

Could not create directory for unzipping: D:1\COMMAND\PortableApps\GoogleChromePortable\Data\profile\Temp\scoped_dir_10957\CRX_INSTALL

Chrome not starting

Submitted by jamina1 on February 28, 2011 - 1:31pm

I've installed Chrome 9 on my USB drive and it fails to start on Windows 7.

I ensured that no chrome.exe processes were running from the host machine. It doesn't pop up a dialog at all either, it just fails to start.

I attempted to reinstall it again and it doesn't change the behavior.

Im having trouble in Blender software. Im trying to make a game using Blender software in my project. Since i wanted to program in Python language rather than only model it in d software, but Im not able to access that part of the software. Please tell me how to get to that area where i can edit and write the Python program while modeling. I have seen in images on sites showing that it comes on the side, but im not able to access to that area.

source code

Submitted by lokomotiv_lib on February 27, 2011 - 2:11pm

Hi, I use portableapps a long time ago, I use firefox, openoffice and others, and as I understand this site only works with open source software, so this software can be modified by users who can get it's source code for free, If that's right, where can I get the source code for xnview?

In the xnview site, they say their software is freeware with some restrictions, but They never say that xnview is open source.

As you can see I'm a little confused, I have became to think that portableapps has changed his policies and now they also work whit software that is not open source.

I just found a bunch of bugs in some new portable apps!!!

CrystalDiskInfo Portable: Leaves startup value: HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\CrystalDiskInfo

SystemExplorer Portable: Leaves startup value: HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\SystemExplorerAutoStart

BleachBit Portable: Leaves entry in Start Menu -> Programs -> Startup called "bleachbit"

EDIT: Note that you have to change some options that say something like "start with windows" or "startup" for those to be created.

(Crossed out by popular demand.)

Camstudio 2.0 errors

Submitted by BMMH on February 26, 2011 - 5:31am

Hello,

i am ready to pay / donate.

At first, let me tell you some errors, that will occur by using this very good programm.

It is possible to make videos from all i need.

It is possible to select audio from microphone.

But not from speaker. So, on my windows XP PC (Notebook) it is not possible, die record the audio from that what comes outside of the speaker.

My PC uses (perheps) a very simple soundcard. Is this the reason.

This is the error;
WaveOutGetSelectControl() failt.

GNUcash 2.4.2 - triggers anti-virus software

Submitted by dm on February 25, 2011 - 9:05am

I recently updated portable app GNUcash to version 2.4.2. When I run it using my VISTA desktop at work I get the following error:

gconfd-2.exe detected as Artemis!52E920554AB1

The anti-virus software then deletes the file. GNUcash opens, but will not open my data file.

After work I reinstalled 2.4.2 on my portable drive and tried to run it on my XP laptop at home. It got as far as the tip window and the GNUcash load screen - then it simply disappeared.

Any help with these issues would be much appreciated - I love GNUcash and use it all the time.

Opera a little less portable when in PAF format

Submitted by theholycow on February 23, 2011 - 2:26pm

I've been a big fan of portable apps for years, since before anyone even came up with the word "portable" to describe them. As such, when a portable version of my favorite browser came out I began using it. Opera@USB has never given me trouble.

Recently I decided to try the PAF version from here, figuring the standardized format is a good thing. Imagine my surprise when I made a minor move, not even to a different drive, and it complained!
