Hello,

I have an Older USB 2.0 256 MB Flash Drive that copies a collection of 200MB files within four minutes but a New 4 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive takes more than 17 minutes to copy the same files from the same PC connected to the same port.

It shows about 140 minutes to copy Open Office portable in the Newer one. Due to this issue I have been unable to copy all my applications and files into it as it is showing that it will take more than five hours to do so.

Why is it so and how do I resolve this?

I have been looking for a good way to sync my USB drive with a temp folder on my PC.
I found an OPENSOURCE program called UNISON.

Has anyone seen this?

Its powerful as hell and I think this could make the backup of USB drives EXTREMELY customizable.

first of all thanks for your wonderful collection of portable apps and second that I can't understand is why don't you use QEMU Manager which is a portable GUI for QEMU to build your own compact virtual machine and run what ever you need on your virtual pc ????

in this way all your data is safe from infection by virus and making backup is as easy as copying your virtual hard disk file.

I have a created a short cut on my flash drive in the root Dir:

PStart[Home]
"H:\Documents\NonU3Apps\PStart\PStart.exe"

realizing that this would only work on my Home machine.

I plugged the drive into my machine at work.

The drive became "K:" as was expected.

I double clicked on the shortcut, expecting an error.
It was my intent to creat a new shortcut for the work machine.

I received NO ERROR. PStart launched as normal!!!
The shortcut CHANGED TO:
"H:\Documents\NonU3Apps\PStart\PStart.exe"

I tried this on another machine.
The drive became "G:"

How I understand it, the Portable Apps Menu is basically an open source form of the U3 Launchpad. Except I don't like U3's inavailability of free, open source apps. I especially hate the lack of Abiword U3. What are the main differences, and which would you recommend?

I am aware about all of the bulletins already posted about encryption and locking for your flash drive...But, a couple days ago, I was looking through the forums and found a link that showed the PortableApps Menu with a small box attached to the top for what I believe wass password portection, I've sepent hours looking through the forums but cannot find the post anymore. If anyone knows the link for this, could you please give it to me. Thanks.

First of all my compliments for this great site and collection of portable applications!

But, what actually is PortableApps.com?

A platform to promote the portable app concept?
A platform to promote the PortableApps Suite product?

I'm asking this because I recently made a application I publish portableapp compatible (PoiEdit, a shareware app to edit and download gps locations=points of interest). Is PortableApps.com a catalog of available portable apps, and could I get my application listed in it? Or do you suggest other sites for this?

Hi from Greece... Recently i have found a very good App Launcher from "Richskills" with name GoWithMe...
Its Small and its very powerfull. I like the Eject Button option and i thing that
should be a very good examle how this option should work in the next release of the PortableApps Launcher.
Has anyone else try it?
