Chrome Ublock origin restore from file fails

Submitted by nolanoro on October 11, 2022 - 6:26pm

Chrome Version 106.0.5249.103

Have you heard of this before with Portable Chrome, or Chrome in general?

I cant import settings. When I try, nothing happens. Same thing happens when I try to import My Filters, but I can paste and save into My Filters.

Works fine on Firefox.

I disabled all extensions except Ublock. Disabled all experimental settings.

I just created a fresh install. Added ublock. "Restore from file" still won't import.

Is the fact that I'm trying to import the Firefox exported settings possibly the problem?

LG GRAM model 17Z90P-K.AA78A8 and Supersonic Rage 128 GB USB

When I install the above mentioned USB into a USB port on my above mentioned LG GRAM with Windows 11 and double click the Start.exe in Windows Explorer I get this message; "This app can't run on your PC. To find a version for your PC, check with the software publisher". However, if I double click on PortableApps.com_Platform_Setup_22.0.1.paf.exe and reinstall the platform all is well until the next time I install the same USB drive and double click the Start.exe. Is there a platform just for Windows 11 or what is the trouble? Also, is there a way to attach a copy of the message as a file?

PortableApps does not update some applications

Submitted by capcla on October 2, 2022 - 9:03am

For a long time, the portableapps suite do not update automatically some applications. In the beginning it was just libreoffice. I stayed at libreoffice 7.1.4 and believe I did this update manually. Now, other applications have been added to this list:
- CCleaner via ccPortable 6.04.10044
- Opera 91.0.4516.20
- Team Viewer 15.34.4
- Wise Ddata recovery 6.1.3

I have 2 PCs with Windows 7 64-bit and have the same problem on both.
How can I solve this problem?
Thank you

Interest in Windows on ARM / ARM versions of apps?

I was wondering if there's any interest in ARM versions of apps being included in bundles where it is low impact. These would be for Windows 10/11 on ARM devices like the Microsoft Surface Pro X, Samsung Galaxy Book Go/S, Lenovo Flex 5G, HP Elite Folio, etc as well as for folks daring enough to get Windows on ARM running on the Mac M1/M2 machines. This would only affect a handful of apps like CrystalDiskInfo/Mark, Sysinternals utilities, 7-Zip, etc and only when it makes sense size wise in relation to performance.

Is there a way to tell on this website if an app requires an admin access token/rights?

Submitted by Tormund on September 15, 2022 - 6:16pm

Some portable apps run fine with standard user accounts like putty. But wincdemu has a uac admin credential popup to allow "this app [from an untrusted publisher] to make changes of your device."

For apps like that, it would be useful to know, have them tagged, and be able to filter by that attribute.

I tried to run some of these apps with the runasinvoker command, but they usually require drivers or something so they can't be ran as a standard user.

[Closed] Update Explorer++ Portable 1.3.5 to 1.4.0 Beta

Submitted by alanb on September 8, 2022 - 10:42am

I have been having repeated crashes with Explorer++ Portable 1.3.5. I contacted the developer who said "I no longer investigate any issues specific to 1.3.5. If the crashes occur in the latest development build, please send through a crash dump."

The development build is 1.4.0. It is marked as a beta, but is the only version supported. https://explorerplusplus.com/download.

I feel that 1.4.0 should be used as the current portable version as version 1.3.5 has been depreciated.

Thank you.
