How to get a portable app to open a associated file type?

Submitted by Ryan1 on December 21, 2022 - 8:54pm

Windows 10 Pro x64

I have a portable version of PDF X-Change Editor (not from this site).

Most of my portable apps can be launched from a document by associating the document's file extension to open with the executable for the portable app.

So when I double click a document that is associated with the portable app, the app is launched with the document open.

But this one doesn't work. Double clicking the document opens the app, but not with the document open.

another instance of Opera is already running

Hi,
Here's my problem : my computer crashed, PortableApps.com Opera Portable Edition was running.
When I restarted and tried to lauch it again, I got the error box :
"Une autre instance de Opera, Portable Edition est déjà en cours d'exécution. Veuillez fermer les autres instances de Opera, Portable Edition avant de lancer Opera, Portable Edition."
Problem is : there is no other instance running !
I tried to restore backups : I get the same error message on THIS computer but it works fine on another.

Change log

I periodically update the apps. Was wondering if there is any way to check for changes made in the updated version. It is useful to know if any new features have been added or the bugs fixed.

rcvPortable 1.53.1087

Submitted by pat332433 on December 1, 2022 - 7:01am

Hi

Can anyone help me by providing a link for me to download rcvPortable version 1.53.1087 that was available here:

https://portableapps.com/news/2018-07-25-rcvportable-1.53.1087-released

Unfortunately my copy was corrupted when my disc failed, I do still have my Recuva 1.53.1087 installer though which I downloaded from Piriform.

Thanks

Pat

Run 64 bit version

Submitted by mmjoshi on November 30, 2022 - 10:38pm

I have installed many apps such as Thunderbird, FreeCommander XE, Krita, Notepad++ etc. However, when I run these apps the 32 bit version gets executed. This does not happen for other apps like Firefox, KeePass to name a few.

How do I run the 64 bit versions of the apps?

My OS is Windows 11, 22H2 version.
