The icons used by PA.c are great, and they do keep that portable user folder idea going. However I think that it should also have a downloads folder. I can't remember if XP did or not, but my Vista computer and I know Win7 has a custom Downloads folder icon. I have FireFox Portable set to put everything in X:\Documents\Downloads. Any chance we could see that in the next release?

I am one of those that like to have almost "everything" loaded. When it comes to PortableApps, this can take a while. I start with the suite, then download every app I'm interested in individually, then have to install them individually. I may have missed it, but is there a way to bundle all of the apps and create a single installer based off of a checklist? Something like http://www.ninite.com

As we've discussed a few times, Audacity is our currently recommended open source audio editor. We've had it available portably for a while and recently began bundling it in the PortableApps.com Music Production Suite.

Currently, we bundle and recommend the 1.2.x stable branch of Audacity. There has been some debate over switching to the 1.3.x beta branch. Normally, this would be out of the question as we don't promote beta products as stable to end users. Unfortunately, in the world of Audacity, this is *MUCH* more complicated than with any other software we currently bundle.

As far as I know, Lockngo is the only drive security portable application to work both on Windows and on Macs, meaning that you can lock your USB drive on Windows and open it on Mac and vise verse without having to install anything on your computer.

First we had the PortableApps Menu, then the PortableApps.com Platform... I think we should replace both with a PortableApps "Hub". This is a collection of my ideas but borrows heavily from suggestions I've heard as well and is my attempt to represent both what people want and would be better for many people.

The hub would replace the menu (and look mostly like it), except...

1. Below "Help" and "Search" would be a "Host Computer Info" box which would show the CPU, RAM, OS version, whether the account is admin or limited, and other useful specs.

Just wondering, is there any way you can have the portable apps icons be put onto the desktop autmatically after hiding the computer's?

Just a HUGE thank you to the creators of PortableApps.com. In the last 2 weeks I've gone from frustration over lack of portability (I use 3-4 different computers a day) to loading an entire 2GB flash drive to capacity.

Hey all, my first post here!

what i'm looking for is a way to have USBstick-portable encrypted email, and be able to use it on both windows and linux PCs.
I've been using TBP+Enigmail before, and it's as good as ideal - except for that i can't read or send encrypted emails if i only have access to a linux computer at the moment.
This is some serious impediment to my "portability".
