What new portable applications should we be expecting? I really dont like to download from other sites other than this one, even though I despise Johns tree structure of the apps.
Is there a list of software that says its portable but not? I think an example would be Foxit PDF Reader. I remmber people saying that its portable but leaves a tiny trace in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Foxit Software
Also, where might I find true portable apps to clean IE History, Temp, etc
Hi All:
According to the locked thread HERE, there was apparently some talks with getting Spybot on the bandwagon. I was wondering if any further information was available as that post is now over a month old.
I realize that under the licenses that source code, etc. has to be included.
However, my question is: Is it necessary for me to keep them on my PC/USB drive? Are the files in the "Other" folders used by the installed portable apps?
The original one is in Italian, but there is an English version...
I don't know if it is GPL or not... it claims to be "Donationware"...
Apologize me if I break the rules... LINK EDITED BY MYSELF(*)... I still don't test it... just want to let you know about this.
Greetings.-
(*) since chris0 says this is not GPL, I prefer to edit the link before somebody jump to my trout...
and if so how do you use it?
Hi everybody, first post here.
I find this site great. I've just downloaded some of my favourite apps, like Firefox, VLC... I'd like to share some thoughts about portability...
1) What are the advantages of NON-PORTABLE apps?
I think portable apps SHOULD leave a cleaner system and run smoothly even if used on the hard drive, isn't it? So, why use non-portable ones? For example... is there any reason according to you for using firefox instead of its portable version?
2) What are the disavantages of PORTABLE apps?
I really want to know how you use this? Like, do you just transfer stuff from Computer to Computer or can you use all of the apps from your media, eg Firefox?
