There's been talk recently about running apps with limited privileges on an administrator's account. But how about the other way around. You are a user with limited rights and you need to run something as admin. You can try sudowin. I'm not too sure if it can be made portable, 'cause it's used with the "right-click" context menu, and it seems to require .NET.
There's a new article from TechRepublic entitled 10 things you should do to protect yourself on a public computer.
It might be good to compare what the author says in the article with what people here have been saying.

I would like to request an update functionality in the Portable Apps Suite.
This way every day/week/month all updated applications will be automatically installed (after authorization of the user).
Thanks

Is there a way to re-compile ALL visual C++ open source applications with an open source compiler to get rid of external dependencies from closed source DLL's.
I think this is legally the only real way to create real portable apps.
I was wondering if there is a PDF editor that will allow me to fill out PDF forms that are created without a fillable field?
Any suggestions?
I was just thinking that there are some open source apps out there that we still can't release because they have a dumb license. Then I thought well John has to get permission from Mozilla on their apps, so why can't we do that for other apps too?
can we please post a sticky about portable linux in the request apps thread because i am sick and tired of 10,000 people a second requesting portable linux!!!!!!!! and i think i speak for everyone when i say we really need to deal with this before it goes more out of hand than it already is. and if we cant post a sticky about portable linux than can we at least put it in the forum rules or something?!?
