Just someone plugging PAM on the Google Operating System Blogs
read the subject
I would like to see an option in the forums to "Mark All Forums Read" And "Mark All Posts Read" for each forum.
This would make finding new posts a lot easier with out having to go through and read every post to clear the "new" flag.
Hi,
I just started using portable apps. So far it's just FireFox & Thunderbird. I was wondering if there is, or will be an extension to synchronize your portable apps with your desktop versions of those apps? Specifically mail & addresses in Thunderbird; and bookmarks in Firefox?
Also, is there also an extension for Thunderbird Portable that will find ( and remove )duplicate mail & addresses, and and extension that will find duplicate bookmarks in Firefox portable?
Thanks in advance.

Hey to everyone, this is my first post here.
First of all, thanks to whole open source community for making great apps, and thanks to everyone here who made the same apps portable.
Second, how about making some kind of protection for portable apps?
Althrought you can have clamwin on your USB drive, it's dumb to scan every PC in wich you plug your USB drive. How about some kind of locking of portable apps on your USB, so infected computers can't infect your portable apps when you run them.
I just happened to check the site tonite, and to my surprise found the new suite and a bunch of updated programs..
Is there a problem with the newsletter, or have you just been to busy send anything out?
Anyway, I would definitely appreciate the newsletters being sent or some kind of new software update notification. Thanks.
John, just to clarify, is the PAF format just the normal PortableApps style directories and the extractor?

Life is like a sewer. You only get out of it what you put into it.

I may be dreaming and certainly don't have the expertise to create such a program, however ...
Would it be possible for a stand-alone application to create a virtual drive on the fly (like truecrypt, etc.) which instead of using space on a physical drive, used ram?
Issues I can forsee ...
* Would probably require administrative rights (like truecrypt).
* OS could chose to write some of the info to disk in a swapfile.
Have you considered offering USB flash drives ready-loaded with the new PortableApps Suite(TM)?
I think that would be really cool and a great promotion. I would love to own one. I would also buy them as presents for my friends.
For an initial investment you could derive income to help support the project. You could offer these from this site, and also from sites such as cheaplinux.co.uk and Amazon.
They would also make great promotional giveaways if jointly branded by a suitable sponsor.
I would go for 1GB, FAT partitioned with plenty of space for user files and extra apps. Packaged with a glossy, one app-per-page leaflet for added acceptability.
