Best GUI programming language?

Submitted by paladin225 on May 7, 2007 - 8:56pm

I dabble in programming in my spare time (mostly PHP, but I know a little Java and a little C++), and I'm curious: what's the best language for writing GUI-driven applications?

I'd prefer something that can actually be compiled into an executable, like C(++), rather than Python/Java/etc. because I don't want to require that a colossal interpreter be installed (obviously portability would be a nice benefit of this). Also, I'd like to be able to focus on writing code, not tedious GUI-building, so simplicity is another aspect.

Any thoughts?

What do I need to know?

Hello all,

I've been looking through the forums, and it looks like there are a fair amount of active projects being developed (if I'm not mistaken, there appear to be a few separate "dev teams"). I'm interested in helping out with some of the projects in my spare time; who's doing what?

Also, who are the users who constitute the "backbone" of these forums? (Administrators, moderators, active users, and the like.)

Are there any open source, free, or low cost programs that can make .ico files? I've been looking and i cant find anything. Also, it would be a plus if it could import a bitmap image then save it as an icon, if not i can survive without that. Thanks!

Off Topic and WAY Off Topic

I have noticed occasionally that some posters here have ventured way off topic from the original topic. Sometimes posters are way off any support or development discussions.

PLEASE these forums are designed to provide support and development communication for PA.com users around the world. Topics which focus on or stray to politics, religion, sports teams etc should be kept at a bare minimum or just not started or posted in at all. I am not saying that we cannot keep things lite around here, just think business casual.

hi guys, I'm working on a personal thumb drive password system where, basically, its closes the window, then it opens a GUI with a input & a button, you put in the password and it goes away.
But, somehow in all of that, put in code so that if the password is wrong 3 times, it reboots the PC.
Would it be possible to do this? i know it has an obvious problem here, as you could minimize the GUI and access it like that, but would people be able to help plz?
