Chrome OS

I remember reading something about an operating system by Google that is designed for "people who spend most of their time on the web." apparently there is no way to get it though normal channels, only though something called VMware (or something along those lines) from what I've researched about it.

What is it's main purpose? Why was Google so interested in making it's own OS?

I know this isn't open source but if anyone wants another audio player, try foobar2000. It sounds like an odd name but i have found it extremely helpful, so far it can play all of the audio formats that I've opened, including .ogg/.oga, and the installer comes with a portable option that works great! The download link is: http://www.foobar2000.org/files/aee786248c3126dadc866c346633b352/foobar2....

Can I change an external drive from a "Hard Drive" to a "removable storage device"?

Submitted by dalesd on June 23, 2010 - 7:12pm

I have a Seagate ST905004EXA101-RK 500GB external drive. I formatted it to NTFS so I could use it with my Windows XP 64-bit machine at work.

The IT department at work is a little nuts, I guess. It seems that all "Hard Disk Drives" (as reported by Windows) become shared drives, but a "Device With Removable Storage" (like iPods and flash drives) remain unshared.

Question about flash drives

Submitted by d_byrnes on June 23, 2010 - 3:14am

I've read in some of the forums about how many write cycles flash memory can accept before beginning to deteriorate. My question is how does this generally translate into TIME? I don't own a PC yet, but plan to buy one within the next year. Meanwhile I'm using my flash drive with the PA apps for email, browsing, downloading, everything, doing so from Internet cafes. It gets pretty heavy use, 3-5 hours per day, sometimes constantly writing via eMule or uTorrent. So what I'm asking is what can I expect to be the approximate useful life span of my drive?

i have a friend who is forced to use WYSIWYG Frontpage 2003 or the ever demeaning and not so citrix friendly DreamWeaver CS. They (meaning IT) have stopped supporting Frontpage and are forcing her to use Dreamweaver without any formal lessons. albit this is a much broader issue so lets disregard the dreamweaver lessons due to the fact that they are forced to use it in citrix inb creating large web pages.

I would like to build a custom computer for the sole purpose of being able to have a DIY project and as a little experiment. The question i have is: is there any good websites\books that would guide me in the process of putting the system together, with the exeption of these two addresses:

i think i screwed up bad this time.

i upgraded my SUSE installation from Milestone 4 to Milestone 7 via zypper and CLI.

Well now KDE is going beserk and wont keep a window open or visable and the mouse pointer dissapears.

Also the temp reading says the computer is now at 145.4C and the fan is consistantly on.

so i must ask... is the computer on fire or not?
